QuoteI wouldn't hold out for Coples either.  Ingram has outshined him in every way and he isn't getting the 'took year off' tag that Coples is getting.

Well, we can agree to disagree, I see Coples as the best talent at 7, if Blackmon is gone. Coples is 6-6, 285 and will in all likelihood be John Henderson (6-7/335) or Marcus Stroud (6-6/310) impact player that the Jags used to have an let go. Stroud has not skipped a beat in Buffalo, and now has Mario Williams to help him. Henderson had a good year in Oakland as well.

Alualu could benefit by having a Coples take a few defenders as well. The problems we see at UNC for recruiting and football problems may also have impacted the team, and coaching of players. A lot of maybes.

Ingram isn't even listed by many as a DE, he is more of an OLB and at 6-2 fits more of that role of a backer, unless the Jags want to go with Alualu and Ingram, basically two smaller guys going head to head with bigger, taller linemen.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

LOL Marcus Stroud hasn't missed a beat? 7 sacks in 3 years with the Bills and BTW he was released last year picked up by the Patriots and released again before the 2011 season even started.

Henderson notched a total of zero sacks for Oakland last year and was released during the offseason.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

I say trade down..  Hopefully Cleveland wants to trade up from the #22  pick.  Swap 1st rounders and trade us their 2nd round pick this year.. plus whatever else.

Then we'd have the #22, #37, & #38 picks.  I wouldn't mind that at all!

Looks like LA is not going to built the stadium..

Why, because they are negotiating.  Chess, Rynjny, not checkers.  Nutshell:  The NFL holds all the cards, the developer will cave to the NFL's demands, the city will try and find a compromise that doesn't screw them hard enough to not get reelected.   That's the opening.  We'll call it a Queen's Gambit, with the NFL being White and the Developers being black.  You throw out the carrot, but it's usually not accepted, due the immediate weakening of your front line.  If played correctly, the middle game is tricky, but a false move by black will only weaken their position further, so if you're holding all the cards, you can afford to risk it.  All the while, the city is playing the role of moderator.  They have their own agenda, and will use their position to levy everything on the board.  Their first play will be to institute time limits to manage the game as much as they can.  It may even involve replacing or taking away lost/unclaimed pieces in order to move the game more quickly.

After all the hype, I knew it would fall through. It was a bullish mess from the beginning.

Yahoo! reports that Tannehill had an outstanding pro day this week.

If true, his performance makes that #7 pick all the more valuable, as more teams will be willing now to trade up to get ahead of the Dolphins.  The Dolphins themselves may have to trade just to move up 1 spot.  It would be great if the Jags can trade down, still get one of Floyd/Hill, Coples/Ingram, or Kirkpatrick/Jenkins in the 1st, and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder in the process.

Best case I think is Tannehill go 4 and Richardson go 5. The Rams would probably take Blackmon or Claiborne. We could then take whichever one they don't. If Tannehill does fall to 7 (seems unlikely at this point), it would be nice to trade down and get extra picks. I was thinking if Cleveland took Richardson and wanted to move up to get Tannehill, we could get their second this year and maybe a later round pick too.

Obviously, I drank a little too much before I started playing online chess last night.  It seems to make sense, though.

^^^Give me an example of a smaller league team that make fun of a major league franchise in the same city? "Sharks 1, Team Teal 0" isn't just harmless 'playful banter' it's a cheapshot.

QuoteWhen chanting “Let’s go Blue Jays” is an insult
Craig Calcaterra

17 Comments My hockey counterpart James O’Brien reminds us that the Blue Jays will never be the number one game in Toronto, but they certainly can serve as the basis of an insult:

If starting their 15th goalie of the post-lockout era wasn’t a strong enough sign that things are bad for the Toronto Maple Leafs, then Thursday’s humorous chant clinched it. During various points ina 7-1 drubbing by the Philadelphia Flyers, Buds fans sarcastically (and at times, quite loudly) chanted “Let’s go Blue Jays.”

While there are times when fans will promote local teams when times are good (usually when a given squad’s success is unusual), it’s often the comical barometer of especially bad times for a franchise.

^^^That's different. That was just frustrated Maple Leaf fans razzing their team by sarcastically chanting the city's baseball team, the Blue Jays. That wasn't perpetuated by the Blue Jays organization. Despite the Leafs being the 'top dawg' in that city, both the Jays, and Leafs are major league anyway. I was thinking more of the lines of a minor league organization, or lower level organization (not the fans) insulting a major league organization (in the same city) like what went on in Jax. For example, the Kansas City Command organization of the AFL dissin' the Chiefs.

Well, the Sharks have lost 2 in a row now; maybe they're moving to L.A.

^^^Surprisingly (and mercifully) the Jags aren't tagged with the LA moving rumors on PFT; God only knows how long it's gonna last until Mr 'Hidden agenda' Mike Florio eventually comes up with some erroneous article tagging us to LA again. For what it's worth, PFT is tagging the Vikes, Chargers, Rams, and Raiders to LA. I'm the the point where it doesn't even matter anymore, the Nat'l media obviously has an ax to grind, so I'm used to the haters.

What's this I hear about us trading Jennings for Freeney?
