Peyton manning will be cut tomorrow, per ESPN and CNNSI.

I just read that. Theres no way he could have played. One bad hit and he would have been toast.

A little surprised the Colts didn't keep him on to mentor Luck. Kind of like kicking off Garrard and leaving Gabbert without a veteran, even money issues involved, I don't see the point. These young guys need someone to learn from. While I think $28 million is a preposterous sum, I do think the Colts may be making a huge error kicking off the most experienced guy on the team.

Per Jaguars.com, season tickets renewals exceed 87% for the general bowl and exceed 91% for club seats. Looks like the excitement is paying off. With more renewals to come after the move your seat event, on top of new season ticket sales, we may be in a great position this upcoming season.

^^^Now that's what I'm talking about. I cannot wait until free agency, the draft, and most importantly the 2012 season! Go Jags!

BTW, another thing that I cannot wait is when someone (it won't be the Jags, rightfully so) gets Peyton; I so sick of this foolish dream scenario of Peyton coming to Jax and mentoring (in reality setting back) Gabbert; Any NFL QB (esp one who's already been in the fire) will tell you that 'learning' from the bench does zilch for them. Can we please get over it, the Jags intend for Gabbert to be the starting franchise QB? It's nauseating listening to the Prisco show will all of the misguided Jag fans wanting Manning to come here; Pete tries to tell them that Gabbert is the franchise QB to no avail.

Great news on the ticket sales front. I cant wait to get my season tickets in hand. I actually convinced my roomate who just moved here from PCB to get a season ticket. One at a time!

Count me in as one of the "misguided Jags fans" that would love Manning to come here assuming he was medically cleared and demonstrated enough arm strength this week to suggest we would get something close to the 2010 Peyton. I don't think he will so this is all a moot point but I don't like to be painted with a broad brush and insulted.

Count me in as a misguided Dolphin fan that wouldn't mind taking a chance on seeing if he has anything left in the tank for two years or so.  If he comes, its okay for Reggie Wayne to come along for the ride too.  A decade of running QBs like Chad Henne, Jay Fiedler, Brian Griese, Daunte Culpepper, Cleo Lemon, and John Beck behind center will do that to you.

They re-signed Mathis to a one year deal. Good deal for him and the team.

I honestly dont know what the craze is about. He is not the pre-surgery manning. Nobody even knows how effective he is going to be after 4 neck procedures. Age and health wise, he has maybe another two MAYBE three years left in him. I dont see him being a franchise QB for another team. He wont even be around that long. Manning will be a good 2-3 year fix for a team that really needs a QB. Also, we have to look at this. He will not have the offensive line he had with the Colts. They made sure you NEVER touched Manning. I dont see him having that kind of protection on any of these teams that want him.

We need a quick 2-3 year fix. There is no time to wait around for Gabbert to get his act together. Getting Manning would be a big boost for us and give Gabbert time enough to learn which is what he should have been doing last year. I say go get him.

Is everybody just assuming he can actually be sacked again without re-injuring????

I can't believe that I'm about to type this.

I think we should seriously consider signing PM and Reggie Wayne.    :'(  (That was harder than you realize)

I've wrestled with it and have come to the conclusion that even at 80% - adding those two automatically make us a 11-5 / 12-4 team with a real chance to do something in the post-season.

1.)  His health appears to be an issue, but if he's signed, then I'm confident he can play, so really, health is a non-issue.
2.)  I don't believe in 'mentoring' per se, but I think that just being around the guy and seeing how he approaches the game could only benefit Gabbert.  He can see what PM looks for in the film room, he can see how he carries his day to day routine, he can listen to the questions that PM asks his coaches during the game and in specific situations.  Blaine can learn from one of the best just by seeing how it's done.
3.)  We only need a 2-3 year window.  Peyton isn't going to sign a 3 yr contract, but we all know that GS has no problem cutting a QB.   ::)  This gives time for Blaine to develop under normal circumstances and he can start when he's ready.
4.)  Immediately, we sell some tickets.  Won't put a number on it, but it would be noticeable.
5.)  A legit passing game will only make our running game better.

These are just a few of the things off the top of my head.

The Colts had those two together in 2010 and only went 10-6 and a first round playoff loss.

1 word for you - MauriceJonesFreakingDrew

plus you add a top 10 (hopefully) defense back on the field.....

Why not 12-4?

Additionally, I think the Colts had a HORRIBLE defense that year. The Colts have pretty much always had a horrible rushing defense. It's Freeney, Mathis and Bob Sanders (when he wasn't hurt) that only made their defense somewhat respectable.

Back in the AFC East where he should have never left. So glad we dont have to see him twice a year anymore.
