Bagels 'r US on Beach and San Pablo is pretty good too*

*For a northeast Florida bagel

I hear good things, but who wants to drive to Beach and San Pablo? I don't even know if I'd want to drive there if I lived at the beach. Too far from the core!  :(

Where exactly are they located?

Near Harpoon Louie's and Fishweir Creek. Herschel, too.

Corner of St Johns Ave and Herschel.

Bagel was good to me.  Instead of comparing it to the 100's of NY bagels I have eaten.. I would say that the two bagels I had were comparable to Bagel World.  Owner is SUPER nice (and a big Jags fan).  They also had good fresh squeezed OJ.

Will report back tomorrow to give my opinion on some of the sandwiches.

Went there today and bought a dozen bagels for $8.95 + $3.00 for a tub of cream cheese.  Bagels were authentic and quite good.  The scallion cream cheese was incredible.  They have about 20 cream cheese flavors, including an interesting bacon and horseradish shmear.   They're still in start-up mode (credit card terminal wasn't working), but Bagel Love is a nice addition to the neigborhood.

Right at the split of Herschel and St. Johns Avenue, basically across from the Eclipse, if you know where that is in that area.

there's a great place in St. Augustine....the name escapes me right now (maybe Everything Bagel?) but its in the shopping center at the northeast corner of SR 312/US 1 intersection

I believe the sign on the outside just says "BAGELS," though I might be mistaken. I go there every time I'm in the neighborhood.

Will have to check this Bagel Love out. Perhaps bring some to work to ruin the day of my Atkins-following coworkers.

You were right to nix the comparisons to NY Bagels...that being said, I went this morning, and the bagels were damn good. Best I've had in Jax, for sure. Crispy and crusty outside, doughy and dense inside. Weren't cheap on the toppings, and the cream cheeses were good. Glad to see a local place making a real bialy. Also hear they are going to start making their own whitefish. I hope them all the best.

Brian, the owner, is a great guy and close friend.  He managed Bagel World at the beach for years, so comparisons between the two make sense.  I'm so glad he's bringing quality product to our part of town!  And the fresh-squeezed OJ is delicious!!

We need photos to make us crave bagels.. ;)

QuoteIf your bagel doesn't look like it was hand formed and both ends joined together..(Shudder..hole cut out) it might not be real.
A real bagel has a chewy crust and soft But chewy inside, usually with large bubbles to trap more shmear.
A real bagel should leave your jaw hurting slightly from chewing.

Right on! You may well like what they are serving, but it ain't bagels. If you want bagels, try Panera or Einstein's - they're much closer to the real deal.

OK I was agreeing with you until you go to the "if you want bagels, try Panera or Einstein's".....you're joking, right?

I've been there multiple times and think the bagels are great. They remind me a bit of (all-time FAV) Ess-a-Bagel in New York: big, barely any hole, tight skin, and chewy, slightly sour interior. Owner tells me they're definitely boiled, then baked, which you can taste. The wheat Everything is pretty awesome. So happy to have Bagel Love in the 'hood.

I wouldn't know a real bagel if you hit me in the head with it, but I do know whatever it was I had at Bagel Love Saturday was really good, and the honey vanilla spread was awesome.
