Progress seems to have stalled. Hope they manage to get up and running--I really miss a diner in the neighborhood.

I think there are already a few threads open on this topic.

That being said, I do think we have enough diners...and I also do not think Derby on Park will be a diner, in the traditional sense.

Try The Fox, Crazy Egg, Cool Moose...plenty around.

They have been stalled a few times, but just posted this on Facebook last night:

"Menu is almost hammered out, and changes to the blueprints have been approved. We are working to make sure the outdoor space is what a lot of you have been asking for. Our excitement is building as our construction crews are working again. Mike and I are going to try and put a little color on the old Newstand building this weekend...at least some samples. If you see us around the building please stop and say hey."

Lets just hope the A/C system will be completely redone.
1.5 million breakfasts have done the system in. I saw the dirt around the vents back in 1995.
It was a hoot back then to see your buddies crawling around 5 points for breakfast at 11AM. ..after seeing them go home at 5am that morning..
hmm..maybe 3 hours sleep?

Serious work has started at Derby on Park.  All sorts of contractors trucks around

Seems the delay was caused when the new owners sold The Secret Garden restaurant and wanted to spend full time getting the new owners up to speed.
When all else fails hug the dog.

They must be putting some serious money into that space because they completely tore out what I thought was a perfectly good deck between the main restaurant and the derby q space.  I'm looking forward to whatever they do because I'd like an option for breakfast other than Cool Moose.  I never know what to expect from that place but I keep going back.

Was walking by the other day and thought a couple of tables at the very point of the restaurant next to the 5 pts intersection would be a unique setting.  There is a small elevated patio with a metal railing large enough for 3-4 small tables.

From what the owners have said, it is going to be a much improved space, including the deck which is going to be covered, than it was as Derby House.

So they call in Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible to help them salvage their eatery and then sell it a year later and buy a new place? Interesting.
