Ok... let me start out by commending everyone involved with getting this course in the ground!  Congratulations to all of you!!!  Kim Heyde, your perseverance and diligence has finally paid off.  Let me be the first to thank you for your efforts!!!  I'm not sure you understand the positive impact this course has on Disc Golf in Jacksonville.  Thank you!

Ok.. I played two rounds today.  First with residents Stand Hubbard and Al Bond and the second with Stan Hubbard.  Stan kept score for the second round for the first Official Round.  Stan shot a course record of -9 beating me by 1 stroke!  Great Shooting Stan!!!

Both rounds were very fun and this course will be enjoyed by all types of golfers.  Having played this course, I don't have anything negative to say about it at all.   One of the coolest aspects of the location is the great views of the downtown skyline!!!

I still have a few concerns about a couple holes on the course.  After speaking with Al and Stan, I understand the reasoning for position of the baskets on these holes but the still pose a slight risk of anyone walking the paths near these baskets.  I just want to be sure that anyone playing, will be sure to give the pedestrians right of way.
Some of you may think this is just common sense and I would agree with you... However... after watching golfer after golfer throw errant discs on other courses, it's still has to be put out there.

I hope this post hasn't offended anyone as that was not my intention.  I really did enjoy playing today and I hope to have many more rounds out there!  Tried my hardest to have the first Hole in One today... will be back soon!

As the past and future Director of Events for River City Disc Golf Club, I would be happy to assist anyone who is interested in starting any type of handicap league, please let me know.

Grip it and Rip it!!!  Grab a disc and go play!!!

Where is this located? (specifically) I quit playing years ago when I moved to Riverside and would love to start up again!
I played in Orlando at least once a week for years!
Is there ever a Disc vendor on site?  My small collection of Discs were stolen and mangled by a Weimaraner and a Great Dane. :o

The course is located in Klutho Park (aka Springfield Park). It looks really great. I think the official starting point is 2nd and Boulevard.

It looks really great. So far I didn't have an opportunity to play. It is on my usual dog walk route and I have observed a few people already using it.

We are trying to get a vendor.  Hopefully if the interest is there it will make sense for them.  For more info feel free to look for us on Facebook at Springfield disc golf and our website www.springfielddiscgolf.com.  We should have our tee signs, welcome sign and score cards available in about two weeks!

Thanks for the shout out Rhyno.

Thanks for sharing the link to myspringfield.org .  One note -  there is no grand opening on the 19th.  When it gets rescheduled we will share the date.

Just did my first "mini round" of disk golf with a Kim and others. Great fun! The park is laid out very nicely. We only did hole 1-6 and then 18 back. I think this design is great in that it allows for these small rounds in a more casual atmosphere. Looks like some more advanced players with tricked out golf carts and everything had fun too while we played the course. There is a nice mix of long "straight" holes and holes with shorter distances but trees and such that require a bit more precision and planning. We had a lot of fun. Great work!

I love the DISC GOLF course and go by there everyday to watch people play. But I have not played myself because I honestly cannot throw at all.  :-[

As a disclaimer I will say I did design the logo, welcome sign and score cards so I'm a bit biased but having a disc golf course in the core is pretty awesome.

I played two rounds this past weekend, once on Saturday and again on Sunday with some friends. We went to Dicks Sporting goods, bought some discs and hit the course. It was a lot of fun and there were a couple other groups of players enjoying the course as well.

I'd recommend people give it a try, it's a low impact game perfect for those days you just want to hang out with friends and enjoy the weather and get a bit competitive and best of all the course is FREE.

Does anyone know if the Baymeadows course is still open?

Nice feature on the SPR disc golf course in the paper today, with an overview of the sport and other local courses:

Im hitting this up as soon as I get back to FL! I didn't know about the Baymeadows one but I do know that there is a really cool course in Hanna Park

A great benefit for Springfield. Somebody take me golfing and I'll take you kayaking. I'm serious. Would love to play once.

There's people out there playing everyday, literallly. It's been fantastic.
