I really think this is a time of political realignment.  Parties matter less and less and less in these local elections.  My ballot was all over the place.  And I'm theoretically a die-hard Dem.

Timkin

This election is proof that party affiliation was not the deciding factor.. for once.. Thank god!

Ch 4 ran a neat story.  The % turnout was much higher in the districts that went heavily for Brown.

In other words Hogan supporters were more likely to stay home yesterday.

What do you call a Republican who doesn't bother to vote at all?

Toney Sleiman sure did.
He has a rather long history of counting unhatched chickens, doesn't he?

Hogan's concession interview:  http://www.news4jax.com/video/27945233/index.html

You know I see why he avoided the debates. He is not a "face of the franchise" sort of person, more "behind the scenes role player" This is my first time actually hearing him talk before.

Well.... It is done and I refuse to bash him or his supporters.  They very well could have won, but finally enough of us united on our determination to change the course of Jacksonville.  We should remain on course and ready to help our Mayor-elect to transform this great City to what it should be , instead of the continuation of the same ole same ole.  As Hogan supporters would expect us to do, had he won,  they should , eventually embrace this change and opportunity.   I wish Alvin Brown MUCH SUCCESS !

Audrey Moran said it best in her concession speech. Partisan politics have no place at the local level.

Glad that so many freethinking people in Jacksonville decided to cross over.

So what now?? What are some of the specifics people want from Brown? How will he handle crime? Mass transit? job creation? Core developments? city budget?
