SOS hearts STOLEN

Yup.  And we are flattered. 

Approximately one dozen hearts were stolen from 342 W. 10th Street a.k.a. Patterson Apartments in the last 12 hours.

Whether they were stolen because someone just liked them and don't know what they represent, OR stolen because someone(s) is concerned that we may actually STOP the demolition of this historic home, doesn't really matter.  We have more.

Bring YOUR hearts.  Keep them coming.  And if you haven't got a "tangible" heart to bring, we know those who truly believe in the preservation of the historic fabric of the hood have their hearts with us.   

And don't worry, we'll replace your heart at your personal home.

I was thinking of wiring the hearts together and chain/cablewire them up, then ask a neighbor across the street to put a webcam there to watch the 342 house.

I got a good question, what kind of materials are those hearts made out of? Any requirements to maintain the consistency of the visual.

hmmm.....wonder if the OWNER may be behind that or having someone remove it?

I doubt the owner is behind it. Too much effort to remove.
Any heart will do.
Ours are thin plywood, painted red with wire looped like a bucket to hang it. They are about 1' x 1'

The "official" SOS hearts are carefully crafted of plywood and, I believe, bent coat hangers (it just adds to the artistic je ne sai quois).  However, the thieves probably also stole the hand-sewn fabric hearts I had added to mine.  Bummer.  I guess next time I'll have to adorn them with RAZOR WIRE and ITCHING POWDER!!!

Any kind of hearts will do.  Plywood, cloth, cardboard. 

(and btw, loved the fabric hearts hooplady -- I only found one of them).

Sorry, for us newbies.   What are these hearts for?  Showing support for community that we want this building saved?  What usually are the reasons to tear such a structure down?  How do you usually attach hearts?  I have a nice staple gun, will that work?
