Mr. Brown has been speaking about jobs and him being the one with the connections to get the port done.  Mr. Hogan has been preaching the theology of tax cuts (no matter what the rates are now), Second Amendment and sanctity of life.  One of the candidates is off topic.

Do not confuse the talk at this site as being something other than the discussion going on at this site.

Perhaps you need to educate MJ leaders on what Brown is really saying then. Cause they seem to think he can only win if HOGAN loses.

Over the next two days, the front page stories will be dedicated to the official issues identified by both candidates, with detail on how they plan to deal with them.  Get some sleep and check back in the morning for Mike Hogan's issues and on Friday for Alvin Brown's.

QuoteThis stands to be a really good election because, among other reasons, the choices are so clear cut.

Yes, its obvious, its all Hogan.

Listen to reason. No one in the suburbs cares about downtown, and from the numbers of residents downtown, maybe 2,000 total, there are not enough voters in the downtown area or even springfield to make a difference.

If Brown is wiser than the zealots on this board, he will shut-up about downtown.

:)   I care about Downtown and live in the suburbs.  Speak for yourself ,instead of presuming to know all about the people in the Suburbs.. you could be right about some of them .. you could not be more wrong about all of them.

I have plenty of friends of who live in the suburbs. From the far northside, to Town Center to Baldwin. They all express interest in having a fun, vibrant Downtown.

I think that many people in Jacksonville care about downtown.  The problem is that they don't know what to do about downtown because there the city's leaders have no clear vision.  Downtown, in my opinion, matters because it is more than just the geographic center of things.  Downtown should also be the cultural center of our city as well.

Many feel it has been a money pit that we have poured money into instead of a place we have neglected to fund.  Many just feel it is hopeless for no good reason other than they believe things will never change.  The truth is they always change you just need to direct the change as much as you can.

Right....but to say people in the suburbs, just do not care about downtown is absurd.

Well, I know you are wrong,  ;D , and the votes from the last election prove you and everyone else who is holding onto some inane vision of downtown wrong. Moran was your champion and she lost, apparently more westsiders and southsiders have more of a vision of what was important to them with Hogan.

The numbers don't lie. We'll see in May if Brown will have turned downtown into enough of a rallying cry to make a difference. March's numbers show that the candidate who tried to, lost.

I really do not believe the election in March was a referendum on Downtown.

mtraininjax

Quote65% of the voters did not vote for the guy who has no vision for downtown.

Pretty stunning actually.

Yeah, we shall see in May, we shall surely see.

Sadly, I expect Hogan to win as well.  Nobody intolerant of religions should deserve to be in office.  It will take a miracle for Alvin to win.

Hang on to your hanky there , justice.  you may just get surprised

I saw Hogan today hanging out at one of my favorite lunch places with his network! the smugness just made me want to puke out my lunch!
