We should trade for a QB.. Kevin Kolb, Matt Flynn (Hell we traded for Green Bay's back up before and it worked quite well).. This way there can be an open competition in camp with guys that have been in the league for a few years, and are still fairly young.

But who knows.  One thing's for sure, this offseason will be quite interesting!

Lets hope we get lucky. What round was P.Manning drafted any one know?

I think we're out of luck on the #1 pick overall :D

i think the jags have to go qb in the first 2 rounds. i think the fans will demand this, if not it could be a very shaky year next year

I met with the Jags a couple weeks ago about an opportunity to join the Champions Club. During the presentation they spoke about how strong tickets sales have been... not for just this season but next season and the 2012 season. Most people are renewing through the 20-20 / 30-30 package and the team is way ahead of pace in terms of sales.

A quote in the Ask Vic column today sums it up - "As Bill Polian once said, if you listen to the fans, you’ll end up sitting with them."

if this was a couple weeks ago then this was before out current 2 week meltdown. now i have no doubt that there will be people still buying the season tickets next year with the 30-30 plan and such, but i doubt we are anywhere close to selling out every game next year. i'm sure after these last 2 games that a lot of peoples minds have changed some. now if the jags win next week and the colts lose, then of course those minds could change again, but it's a big if for both of those 2 things to happen.

i would love to have kolb, but it looks like philly wants a first and another pick just to pry him away. i doubt we would give up all that. though i did mention on the jaguars message board last year about trading for him or vick with our pick and they ran me out of the forum boards calling me all sorts of names

Keith-N-Jax

Never bet againts the colts unless their playing the Charges or the Pats. We need a strong finish in Houston!! and another good draft I think they've won alot of support this yr. Dont wanna leave a bad taste in people's mouth with a three game skid at the end.

brady was an anomaly, most of your top qb's were drafted in the first 2 rounds

There's also been several busts in the first two rounds - Matt Leinart, Jamarcus Russel, Brady Quinn, John Beck, Kellen Clemens and there have been a bunch of Garrard (average) types picked in the first 2 rounds - Chad Henne, Tavaris Jackson, Alex Smith, Jason Campbell - and BTW I'd take Garrard over everyone that I just mentioned.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's not where they're drafted, it's not what school they went to, it's how they play when they get to the NFL and that's up to the scouting dept. to determine, not Kiper and McShay.  This is why I believe that the Jags are going to be fine with whomever they draft.  Gene Smith came up through the scouting ranks and built that department, so they know what he is expecting and find it.

How are his picks looking so far?

i don't doubt that there have been busts at qb in the first 2 rounds, i'm just saying that out of all of the best qb's they almost always come from the first 2 rounds. so if we are indeed drafting a qb, i hope he decides in a qb in the first 2 rounds. if he doesn't see one there then he might as well not draft one, because the odds are not good after round 1 and 2. i don't doubt gene's drafting skills, his 2 drafts so far have been good. though i don't see any player that will be great, but that's ok. he just needs to make sure to draft a great qb or we could just be in this rebuilding cycle all over again

I disagree. After the Colts loss we had one of the best tickets sales weeks of the year. Also, the team is ahead of pace now for where they were in March & April of this year... and this spring we had a hell of a push in ticket sales.

There's a lot vitriol in this town-no doubt-when it comes to the Jags... but I think a smarter fan base is growing by the day. I think the way of ticket purchasers recognize a young team that is still rebuilding and definitely on the rise.

^^^agreed. And if you ask me, I think the fans set their self of for disappointment. Dont Blame it on the team. The past month I said a winning record(9-7) and 2nd in the division was good with me. That was realistic. The playoffs were not even uttered out of mouth because we make too many mistakes. We wouldnt make it past the first playoff game.

Its time for us to be realistic about the situation... Its not going to change overnight. 9-7, number 2 in the division and no black outs sound like a good year to me.! Im ready for next season.

I guess this is where we will agree to disagree.  I'm of the opinion that a great QB can hide a lot of deficiencies in the rest of the team.  I also think that an average QB with great parts around him and make the playoffs year after year after year.  So I'm starting to turn towards GMGene and his BAP philosophy after only 2 years, and I think after this year, it will be only better.  IMO, we have greater needs than QB - Defensive Secondary, Defensive End, because Garrard has shown he can play, albeit somewhat streaky.  Time will tell, and if I'm right, I'll be sure to revisit this thread ;D

Ya know I was just thinking..... WE went from 5-11, to 7-9, and now possiably 8-8 or 9-7. What the hell is everyone complaining about again? This is called PROGRESS. Would could be 2-13 like the panthers and a few other teams. Let's just be thankful and hope for the best.

Oh lets see were the #3 rushing team in the league and we go into Indy and they rush for over a 100 yards, then we face a patched up Skins defense only to face a flat Jags offense, special teams plays the worst game of the season, and we get the Bad Garrard. How many times have we heard Del Rio say DG holds onto the ball to long, DG needs to stop taking sacks, and yet he continues to do it, along with over throwing wide open receivers. Record may be a tad better, but if we lose the last three then is there really a difference? Besides the thrilling wins this seasons that probably gain some more fan support. We really have the same team with DG at the Helm.

Also Duvaldudue we could 13-2 did you ever think that? And we are hoping for the best.
