Did Heights Unknown just volunteer to bring beans to Make It Happen?  Cool ones at that!  :)

She Clown, if you call a tree service, you can get mulch.  And I think Tree Hill in Arlington has free mulch.  It's hard to get a tree service to dump mulch here...Ray tried for a long time to get it for the community garden.  But, if you have a truck, and call a few, you can maybe get some.

Preservation SOS is not only interested in saving homes from bulldozers -- the back end of the condemned properties saga, but also in preventing the beginning of the process as well.

Both Miss Maggie and Kenneth lived in Springfield before it was a historic district.  Both raised families here.  And, unfortunately, both houses, like many more in the neighborhood, started on the Journey to Special Masters, rolling fines, punitive liens.

If we lose these people, long time residents with special challenges, chances are we will also lose these houses.  And if we lose these houses, we will lose many wonderful characters like Miss Maggie and Kenneth -- the special charm of Springfield.

I saw a huge pile of mulch...I believe it's on the Ionia around 3rd....I'll have to go find it again...but it's piled in an empty lot

That's not mulch -its manure on the Sustainable Springfield lot where there will be an orchard.  It will be spread over the lot this weekend and tilled into the soil.

The Orchard lot on Ionia is really coming along.  We are so lucky to have Sustainable Springfield.

So we are less than a week away!  Who is coming over to E. 9th to help?  Can't help?  What can you donate?  Refer to the list and bring it on!  We can also offer a receipt for your donation as we are umbrelling under our friends from Sustainable Springfield.  Whoot!  Whoot!

Come on folks, let's Make it Happen!!!!!

Noone

I plan on being there in the am barring any unforeseen other reason.

Thanks Noone.

Everyone: As the time is winding near, and you are attending or donating, can you please let me know if you are able to bring anything?  Please send an email, or post here.  I will shop for needed landscape and paint supplies on Friday.  nicolelopez89@yahoo.com

I was going to bring a ladder, shovel, post hole digger, clipper, and work on the landscape part. I've got a wheelbarrow that I'll bring and when were done it can be taken and left at the garden. I'll also put in $10.

i'll likely bring about the same stuff i brought last time i was involved, except that i think the dust masks disappeared sometime between then and now.  as i recall, though, there were more than enough ov those to go around anyway.

We're getting down to crunch time for Saturday.  What do you know you still need?  I don't want to get stuff you already have in abundance.

iloveionia

LOTS of tree bark/mulch
Garbage bags
Paint brushes for trim work
Plants, specifically plants that will provide coverage: oleander, cedar shrubs
8 foot pieces of 1" trim to frame in lattice work
4 x 4 posts
broken hex pieces, full hex tiles, bricks

Good crowd at Kenneth's house this morning.  If you happen to have some time on your hands, why not wander over to East 9th and Walnut and say "hi" and cheer on the good efforts!
