Preservation SOS and Sustainable Springfield Join Forces!

Yup, that's right.  Great things continue to come out of Springfield.  Community Gardens, preservation of homes, adaptive reuse of vacant lots, mothballing, beautification everywhere!  Working together makes us stronger, allows us to help and support one another, and the best of all, do even greater good for the community of Springfield. 

Live Locally!  The chain of love that links us together will continue to grow as we bond among community groups to bring the best out of Springfield, and ultimately bring out the best in each of us.  Together we can do this, we must do this!  "If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself." -Henry Ford

Here is our first step at uniting this front.  Preservation SOS + Sustainable Springfield = the right thing to do

Sustainable Springfield is very excited to be working together with Preservation SOS.  After working with another neighborhood non-profit for the past year to help launch the Laura Street Community Garden, we know what an impact that two non-profits can have working together.

Over the next year Sustainable Springfield is going to be working on several projects, in addition to continuing to manage the Laura Street Garden.  Salvaging resources around us is something the Sustainable Springfield and Preservation SOS share in common.  Vacant blighted land can be used for many great purposes - presently we are working on a community orchard project.  Salvaging the housing stock in the Historic District is a sustainable practice that we fully endorse.

There are still obstacles to overcome and change does not come overnight, but working together can have a great impact.

I heard the banner at 8th & Boulevard is being painted this Sunday at 2pm. How about some nice plantings in those areas?

Ladies and Gentlemen.............I agree! Not only because I want too, but because it is the right thing to do!! Not to mention, there is power in numbers which is where the SPAR Council falls short..............8 representing how many ....98? Total number of people in Springfield is around 2,800....so where is the representation? Go team!

Plantings are on the radar already.  As soon as John Fabiano gets back from China, we're starting on those.  Big plans for them.  Can't wait until they are done!

The greatest asset Springfield has is its residents.  When the residents get together, great things happen - this community gets better and better all the time.
