HPC decided tonight to allow Greg and Jason (of Content Design) to record for us in time, place, and use, what it means to be a house in the year 2010.

It means a sustainable dwelling built which can look urbane and still collect 800 gallons of rainwater from its roof for every inch of rain that falls.

It means that Springfield sets a STANDARD of sustainability -- becomes relevant and exciting in its architecture.

It means cool things for this beautiful couple who will live in it and for the neighborhood which will live with it in its time, place and use.

Congratulations Content Design.  Kudos to the neighborhood for embracing a unique Klutho inspired sustainable design.  And welcome to our new neighbors on Walnut!

I am really excited about this house. I can't wait to see it in "action" and also see if these talented guys can help us old house owners figure out ways to implement some of the greener designs being utilized in this house. Not sure my roof is conducive to collecting 800 gallons of water for every inch of rain, but I think it would be facinating to give it a try!

Is this on Walnut between 3rd and 4th? I live right around the corner. This is the first I have seen of this.

Love the concept. Love the design. Love the addition to the area!
(Not to mention the fact that its a few blocks from Three Layers)

I like the streetside, Lil' Klutho, facade...

Yes, it is great that this is gong forward.  Congrats to both Content design and their clients for a job well done and for helping to make Springfield the place to be for great architecture.

This project, its cool design and its sustainability, will generate interest in it and in the neighborhood as well.

There is no way this can be anything but extremely positive for Springfield.

Jason really went out on a limb when he convinced this couple to invest in Springfield (not to mention introducing the first innovative and contemporary design built since 1905).

That takes courage, my friends.  And confidence.  And faith.

i really feel like i should like this.  and if it wasn't in springfield, i probably would; it's an awesome idea.  but i think it fails at looking like a klutho or, indeed, like anything that needs to be in springfield.

fieldafm.......nice pictures! If this is done, it would be an enhancement for the area! Sustainability is the name of the game and the smaller the carbon footprint is, the better overall! I see no reason why something like this would not fit into the overall Springfield area! Hats off to Design Concepts for pushing this into the open!

Yes, that is the location. Empty lot there now with chain link fence.
