I love Jax been here for 15 years.  BUT!!!!  why are we the only major city on the east coast with out a public Aquarium?

Because we haven't had a benefactor step up to the plate and donate it.

I wonder if you might know a guy?

Welcome!

Welcome!

Agreed on the aquarium, especially since we are a coastal and river city, however I think we need to first focus on actually drawing the crowds toward the urban core, as in most cities is where the aquariums are located. Don't get me wrong, downtown is slowly progressing but in order for an aquarium to thrive there needs to be other draw to the area and easy, convenient transportation and parking, something our city can't seem to get a grasp on.

Agreed! An aquarium like the one in Atlanta would do great here! Maybe that can be idea for the shipyards property.

What purpose would it serve?  Just because everyone else has one, we need one too?

I have a fishbowl you can come to my house and pay me $20 to look at if you like, I will even go get a fish and water for it!

I'm undercutting sportmotor. You only have to pay me 19 bucks to look at my aquarium. I have a clown loach, he's entertaining.

And to the guy that says Jacksonville is boring. To a point, it is. But if you do outdoor activities, Jacksonville is actually a dream. There are so many parks and beaches and places to see in the area. You just have to find them.

But yes, I think an aquarium would be a useful project. However, I want to see the ship museum at the shipyards, first!

Tampa, Baltimore, Atlanta, Omaha, and Hawaii been to them all. I would like one in Jax.

There is a very easy solution for an aquarium in Jax. Use the money earmarked for the southbank riverwalk to add an aquarium addition to the MOSH. It is the perfect location, and with some improvements to MOSH (like the new Planetarium) we could have a unique attraction. jmo
