Hey # 9, how is it going? You know the season starts in a few days and....well Im just wondering how you are going to perform this year. The last couple years you played like #7 thats not the way to play man. Look you got new uniforms, a new name on your office building, can we finally get some results like the year #12 & 81 almost ran the table til they lost to #18s lil brother.  I know you got a big contract after that great season man, but since then we aint seen nothing. You have not really been the focus since stupid rumors of your company leaving town has been on everyones tongue. We didnt draft the kid from Neese, so there should be no crazy pressure to perform. Just play like you did the year they got rid of number 7.

Thanks ya boy from 103rd Street

The good news is he is playing better than Favre... ;)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

CS Foltz

Well Favre lost and he had the chance to pull it out and David just plain made bad choices as shown by the final score! Defense was non-existant and ...............heck I could go on and on.............they need to pick it up or 7 and 9 here we come again!

weird, because i would rather have favre than garrard. i don't care that favre has worse stats right now, at least i would feel good that our team would be in it til the end

Regardless of my feelings on David's Garrard's abilities as an NFL quarterback, he's got my full support for the season. My opinion on Jack Del Rio is even shakier, but I'll also give him the benefit of the doubt this season. I was quite vocal about replacing one or both during the offseason, but for now, this is the hand that we've been dealt, and I'd be floored to see WW making any major mid-season changes.

The choice is ours.

We can either:

A) Cry about how terrible our QB and head coach are, run our mouths about how hopeless the Jags are, and give the NFL and national media even more fodder towards moving the team to LA.

OR:

B) We can rally around DG, give him our full support, and do everything in our power to will him into taking that next step forward. Even if there are some stumbles along the way, we can still have fun supporting the Jags.

Despite yesterday's final score, there were a lot of small victories in that game for us. We played hard, even in loss. We made a couple of awesome picks as well, including that great foot drag in our own end zone. The blocked punt was incredible. Jones-Drew almost single-handedly saving what I believe was a 3rd and 25.

Overall, I actually really enjoyed watching this game.

It's early.

Don't give up yet.

There's a lot of football left to play.

And then, if the season doesn't turn out the way you'd like, raise as much hell as you want during the offseason.

You should change your name to KenFTW because you're spot on here.

A lot of whining and not just because we lost... but because it hurts to lose like that. I watched every play and even though I saw it coming it's still painful to watch.

Garrard lives up to his inconsistent reputation and had another implosion.... regardless of how bad he played he's still our best bet at quarterback.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him bounce back next week... I hope he does because I can't imagine what it's like to shoulder all the blame and criticism after a game like yesterdays.

Think of this team as volatile as a double dip recession... with all the years of personnel mismanagement it's undoubtedly going to get worse before it gets better.

In the meantime here's some positives from yesterdays game found by the guys at Big Cat Country:

QuoteYes, the Jacksonville Jaguars got stomped by the San Diego Chargers and a lot went wrong.
There were however, some bright spots in the game... some.

There were some individual performances in Sunday's drubbing that do warrant taking notice.
•   Daryl Smith had another solid outing coming off his AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Smith ended the day with 7 tackles, 2 for loss, and a sack. Yeah, he gave up a touchdown pass to Antonio Gates, but no linebacker in the NFL could have prevented that touchdown.
•   Safety Courtney Greene got his first start of his career and made the most of it. I said before the game he's a guy to watch and a guy the coaching staff is really high on, and he showed you why. Greene forced two turnovers, an interception and forced a fumble on a hit in which he brought the lumber. Greene ended the day leading the team in tackles, despite going down with an injury at one point. All indications are though, he'll be just fine.
•   Wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker rebounded from a donut performance against the Denver Broncos to catch 10 passes on 12 targets for 109 yards and a late touchdown from David Garrard. Sims-Walker did have a fumble, but overall he had a nice rebound game.
•   Tight end Marcedes Lewis continued off his two touchdown performance in Week 1 to catch 5 passes for 70 yards. He's getting more and more involved in the offense and he's proving to be a weapon.
•   Rashad Jennings showed he's more than capable backing up Maurice Jones-Drew. Jennings ended the day with 9 carries for 38 yards (4.2 YPC) and 4 catches for 50 yards. We see now why the team was so excited about him all off-season.
•   Aaron Kampman continues to look like he was more than worth the contract in free agency. He came close to getting another sack, but Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was able to get the ball out before he was "down", though it was debatable. The stats say Kampman only hit Rivers once, but I swear it was more than that. Kampman also made a nice play when he dropped into coverage forcing an incomplete pass to tight end Antonio Gates.
•   I thought the offensive line as whole continued to play well. Guard Justin Smiley was beat on one of the sacks, but overall the line allowed only 4 quarterback hits on 42 pass attempts.
•   Josh Scobee remains perfect on the season after nailed two 40+ yard field goals.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Gentlemen.........no matter what I post, you must keep in mind that I live here too! I want the Jag's to do well and as have posted before........winning bets the hell out of losing! They must do better than the 7&9 record of last year and a winning season quiets all who doubt, but they must win or all of us will be second guessing!

Again with the winning. You've beat this horse in every Jags thread so far and before it spreads to the next Jags related topic. Please! Please! Please! Answer these questions:

How does 1 team accumulate and retain ALL the top level talent in the NFL?

How does 1 team keep the other 31 teams from acquiring any competitive players?

There are only 10 teams each year that earn a spot in the playoffs and of those only a select few that can reach that level consistently year in & year out. Even the most consistent teams have had their share of losing seasons….And undoubtedly will find themselves at the bottom again. With that said part 2 of this questionnaire:

Are fans to abandon their team in these 100% certain to happen, time and time again unproductive losing seasons?

How does a team stay afloat during the bad years that are unavoidable?

Have you noticed there is more of a trend of franchises being successful (i.e. no blackout games, no relocation) because the team is supported unconditionally vs. supported only when winning?

Other than posting as 'Captain Obvious' because no one is disagreeing with you that a winning season would help sell some tickets... unfortunately you can't see the forest for the trees in this debate... because if you did you would realize it's just a patch! Supporting a team only because they're winning is not a long term solution... why isn't it a long term solution? BECAUSE YOU CAN'T WIN ALL THE TIME. IT WOULDN'T BE CALLED A SPORT IF YOU COULD AND IT SURE AS HELL WOULDN'T BE FUN TO WATCH!
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Well I am glad to be a season ticket holder. I was worried the Jags would get beat down based on what I saw against the Broncos. The Broncos pretty much moved the ball as they please so I am not surprised about the Bolts outcome. I taped the Jags away games for this very reason, I just can not sit through a beat down like that.

If WW is serious about keeping this team here this should be del rio last season, keep DG until the new QB has developed. For those who say you cant win every game--this is true, my question is why the inconsistency yr after yr under del rio? You just don't know what Jags team is taking the field. I think that's what has frustrated people the most.

Coolyfett

David you PLAY to WIN the game!!!!

Sorry # 9 but its time we let you go.

They are going to have to keep DG for a while until the new QB has time to develope, but its time for Del Rio to go.
