House on N. Liberty Street Broken Into, Computers Stolen

My friend owns a house on North Liberty Street in Springfield.  Today, someone broke into the house through the front window and stole several computers.

Any information relating to this incident is much appreciated.

It appears though Springfield has improved over the years, there's still pockets of druggies, no loads, and thugs that live in the area. It had to be someone or people strung out on drugs or whatever in order to break and enter someone's house. You don't steal things of value just for kicks.

Any neighborhood where the majority of residents work, and are gone during the day.

One of my co-workers who lives in a gated community on the Southside complained that her TVs (one ripped out of the wall!), Computers, and jewlery were stolen two weeks ago. She was outraged as she lives in a gated community. Of course, what most people forget is a little six foot chain link fence hidden by vines does not protect your property. Theives are not going to drive through and check in at the guardhouse.

Luckily on my street, of the five occupied houses, four have occupants at home during the day with lots of outside activity, so we do not see this. Plus all but one house have dogs.

Still waiting, I was a victim last November same busy street 1400 block! Dummies tripped the alarm and I lost nothing, not that I have much they would want or could resell.

I think it's somewhere between 3rd and 5th.  Not exactly sure.

I know, I always think it's effin' hilarious that the only thing gated communities accomplish is hassling your own guests. It won't do anything to stop anybody who's there for criminal purposes, they'll just go around back and jump the fence.

As if the only crime that happens is here in Springfield...we have our share, but it's still far less than the majority of the rest of the city. Oh, and for the record, that majority of burglaries happen during the daytime hours, when most of us are at work.

The house that was broken into was my customers' house - they called me to get some contacts for a new window.  I do not want to put their address out in the public realm without their permission, but it was between the 2nd and 3rd block of Liberty
