And I've never understood why American football isn't called Carryball.  Handball is already taken!  LOL!

Maybe it would spice the game up some and raise the scores if they made the goal a little wider?

As a former goalie, I will have nightmares about this proposal. Nightmares, I tell you. ;)

But I bet Tim Howard could cover it anyway!  My favorite time of the WC was watching him.  He had to be the best keeper of all the teams.

All goalies should be no less than 7 feet tall.

Even Carryball would be a misnomer. A ball is supposed to have a spherical shape. ;D

Rugby is a nice blend of the 2 sports.

Tim Howard could handle it, as could van der Sar, Cech, Reina, and depending on whether the brilliant or merely solid version shows up probably Casillas.

Lionel Messi would have about 70 more goals a season as he seems to hit the post more than any other player (followed closely by Torres and Dempsey).

Tim Howard is an absolutely exceptional goalie and I do love how an American player has one of the best supporter chants in English football -- and loves it. (If you're going to look it up, like all chants, NSFW / NSFK.)

Rugby is its own awesome beast. I'm making it a priority to get to some Axemen games this season.

^They play a short season... There is only one regular season game left at home (17JUL).  There should be at least one play off game, maybe two if we remain the top seeded team, which they should.  They put out a great product and they make it easy for Rugby novices to understand.  Also you can't beat $5.00 to get in and $1.00 beers.

Thanks for the info, Danno. That is a short season -- I'll try to make that July 17 game. I need to catch up on the contest for possession differences with league, but my Dad played what used to be Pan-Am Union back in the day and I've always liked rugby. Jax is the first place I've lived in a long while that had a team and even games on cable are an infrequent treat.
