Where would they move? Any mention?
Bad time to sell. Really really bad.

Have you called Councilman Warren Jones to thank him for sponsoring the human rights bill? Do it now! Super quick and easy--plus, it feels better than leaving angry messages with bad guys. Call his office at (904) 630-1395

And while they're at it trim some fat from unnnecessary administrative positions.

I wish DCSB would reacquire Annie Lytle and convert it back into School Board offices.. Perhaps add on a detatched addition in the School's Back yard, since Residential efforts never came to pass... Seems #4 would be a fitting reuse as School Board offices .  Just a pipe dream.. The Transit Station would also be a nice reuse,,,but I don't know about the feasibility of either .Just seems if it would have been allowed to put a 3 story addition there for residential , the same could apply for DCSB.
I think this post is worthy of exploration.

What more fitting use for a former schoolhouse than to serve the school system? (Assuming of course, one considers the school board as "serving" the school system.)

This beautiful structure should not suffer the same fate as so many of our others have.

Timkin, I think you may have found a worthy use for the building.

The Schoolboard should move into a building downtown that has a high vacany rate! Maybe the 550 Building.

great suggestions all....but since the School Board deficit is larger than even the City's, nothing is going o happen soon.

In my opinion that is where the aquarium should go after the recession. Connect it to MOSH/Friendship Fountain via the riverwalk and the foot traffic from one end of the riverwalk to the other would increase drastically.

He always thinks the punch bowl is better if he has a chance to piss in it.

He has no more insight on future decisions of the School Board than anyone else on the board.  He just gets an odd thrill at being a downer on any new ideas.

Shoulda seen his posts when we were suggesting commuter rail. ;)

maybe you could post them

That is an excellencent spot for it. In Savannah they have a small aquarium that is connected to one of the universities in the state (I think UGa). It would be wonderful if we could bring a marine research center/aquarium to the area in partnership with UF or FSU or UNF. That would bring some educated workers to the area in way similar to Shands Jax does.

Also, those are some great ideas for relocating the school board offices. I know several districts up North have used old school for their offices with great success. It would also be great a PR move to show that they are thrifty stewards of our tax dollars which would be important if it ever came proposing a tax levy to offset these huge deficits.

JU is opening a fantastic marine research center right on the river.
