Come Timkin! You have to keep pushing to get anything positive accomplished, you know this! Historical Landmarks are one small slice of the overall historical pie......you have to keep pushing or it will fall! From what I understand, we have a mayoral election coming soon.........push to get this on someones agenda! Make it a platform issue, there are enough mayoral wannabe's, there is the possibility for this to catch some ones eye! Make it a part of the total historical picture and there maybe a shot yet! Ms Glorious is pretty good at alot of things, but this is probably outside of her powers. There has to be a Councilperson, whose district PS4 sits in, get them onboard and don't forget the Federal end. With Federal Historical marking, that opens doors for Federal Funds and Tax Incentives, which means you go outside the local end...................not all is lost! IF you need more manpower, I can help but on an irregular interval due to other obligations, just PM me when the next attack is going to be and will try and make a slot to participate!

My gut feeling is , the building will not be standing by the time there is a Mayoral Change. And lord know this present Mayor has certainly had no problem , continuing the path of the previous. Demolish , Demolish , Demolish.   There is nothing of significance to many in this town, and this is why so much has fallen..  I'm sorry but the Bank of America Building, the Modis, etc are all hideous crap, that was put in place of really beautiful buildings..

Annie will probably be replaced with some similar god awful glass tower, because there is too much complacency .  Stupid Convention Centers and new Courthouses are more important than a 33 room Schoolhouse...

But thank you CS .. at least you genuinely offer.  I appreciate that.  Guess I will try pressing on.. I just know whose help NOT to count on

Timkin..............you need to take a break big guy! If you lose it......they WILL win! Kick back for a day, have the beverage of your choice and relax for a day.......it will do wonders for your outlook! You might even come up with a back entrance that could benefit PS4........you know the "National Historical Registry"? Not being the owner kinda ties your hands but the right person in the right spot may do a world of good! Take a deep breath and continue to plug away!

^^^I majorly second!!!  phew

Also, just how much control over the land and the school board building does a governor, state or national congressman, or even the mayor have?  I doubt very much if any at all.  I think someone said due to the circumstances that the DCSB would have to literally vote themselves out of the building for anything to happen.  Yet someone else said they recently renovated some of the offices, which means they either just spent some cash or took on a note.  Someone else (Tufsu) said that their deficit is even higher than the city's.  If that is the case, they are not going to sell the building right now; it would be extremely dumb of them!  Not to be a debbie downer, but in the meantime let's focus our enthusiasm and attention to stuff we actually CAN influence, and somehow for the time being I don't think a School Board relocation is it.

I also don't see the School Board relocating to an office building like Modis for many many reasons.  A building like the Ball building, which now has some city offices, is one thing.  The Modis and working with Eola Capital are another.  Just because Adecco is vacating some space in arguably our most signature downtown office building does not mean that a new contract (a contract with a governmental type agency mind you) with the School Board will be signed for that same space, LoL.
Bothering locals and trolling boards since 2005

Perfect chance for the old Courthouse to rise from the ashes? Old Federal Depository Bldg or even the upper floors of the Prime Osborn Bldg! You have the old JEA Building downtown, with parking no less, but yes I do have to agree..............DCSB relocation is probably more trouble and expense than it is worth! Property at some point could be useable for a variety of uses!
