The Navy released a study on Mayport Naval Station.  The best case scenerio would bring 7,100 military and 100 civilians to the area by 2014.  The worst case scenerio keeps the base "as is".

I was told by my CO that the worst was to cut the # of boats(thats what we call em in half, to 11. It is really stupid what the Navy is currently doing. Speaking of, my job, they are making Norfolk the hub for weather east of the MS River. NAS JAX is getting mroe planes, and all East Coast P3 Orion's by 2011, and also are possibly wanting to move a fighter squadron to Whiting Field, yet they are doing away with NAS JAX Weather, makes since don't it! Weather will be abck to NAS JAX in a few years, it'll take a plane crash with fatalities I'm sure, and many agree sadly. Anyways, the Navy is practically the backbone of the economy here, just like Norfolk. Take us out, and JAX will fall apart in a sense.
