I guess the site "west of Springfield" they referr to in this article is the fenced-in lot at Darnell Cookman they had to stop teachers from parking in?

Core samples from a 1993-1995 England-Thims & Miller study show petroleum, ash and garbage in Klutho Park and ash in Schell Park also. The entire area has contaminated soil and has for decades. Worse, the City has known about it since this study, which can be found in the Public Works/Drainage Dept, and has re-directed infrastructure/environmental funding to the suburbs.

Why is this posted in Downtown thread instead of Springfield thread? This polluted soil, in addition to inadequate/obsolete stormwater infrastructure (Klutho designed it properly at the turn of the 20th century), contribute to high levels of contamination in Hogan's Creek extending down to the Shipyards and into the St. Johns River.

It's time for action on this cleanup.
