Well you went to Urban night
Granted and not to sound racist as this will probly but its the truth. I'm to white and if you are anything but black your thought of as a cop inside the club and no matter who you are, if you do that and are able to walk out count your blessings.

That night does have alot of money change hands so.
Fridaynights are gay night but even then its more lesbians there atleast past times I have gone. Mon-Thur never been. Never really intend on going back either to be honest.

crazy talk.  Ive been a number of times on urban night and its a hella lot of fun.

Well you got out alive, is that what you mean by fun? LOL More fun than being dead...

I think being alive is more fun then being dead myself.

nah.  fun as in fun.   Actually knew a lot of people each time I went.  Its a very fun night.  Actually one night me and APearson were doing a full night of all the riverside clubs, and we dropped in at incahoots (count me among those who cannot fathom the reasoning that went into the naming) and had a brilliant fun time.

APearson ended up dancing with a dance troupe, and three of the largest women ever stuffed into an evening gown since Shelly Winters used to go the Oscars.  Very wild.  Also the drinks tend to be fruitier and a lot more like kool aid, which I can appreciate.  Im afraid I like liquor either extremely tasteful or full on Junior High Prom sweet.

Well if bouncing cadillacs and gin & juice floats your boat, then by all means who am I to disagree? LOL

In all seriousness I should probably broaden my horizons a bit. But still the point is, they literally let all hell break loose on a weekly basis, but then turn around and get so picky that they demand to pre-approve singers' set lists? I think it's hilarious. If it had been any other club but the one with 7+ shootings/stabbings/etc. in the last couple years, then I'd chalk it up to drag queen drama. But this really seems somewhat schizophrenic (at best) given which club it is...

Seems like they have bigger things to worry about than whether a song is lento or prestissimo, doesn't it?

I have to say the Staff, and the customers were all very nice to me when I visited the bar.  I am not a entertainer I just went there to get out and mingle with people when I visited up that way.  I enjoyed the music and there were lots of hot men and women there.   ::)

Incahoots could be bulldozed right this instant , and I would not shed a tear.  The same goes for most of the other gay establishments .  Nothing but drama and too many sketchy people and drugs go on in those places .  Sorry for the extreme bashing , but that is how I perceive these clubs.

The same drama and corruptions goes on in "straight" establishments as well. Drugs, shooting, fighting and drama. That is what one expects when going to ANY type of night club. It is not just gay clubs.

I would have to disagree. I guess because I am no "thug", I dont think anyone whose white that comes in there is a cop. I actually enjoy seeing whites come through the door and 9 out 10 times I go mingle with them. ( I am very diverse). And lets not forget about the drug raid at metro a couple of years ago... And they are DEFINATELY not black. So it is not a race thing.

Never said everyone had drugs not sure why that had to be thrown in, but I am speaking from my own personal experience. I made it a little further in then Chris did but its something I'll never do again.

Maybe I was just distracted by the chaos in the parking lot? Is it like a gauntlet, if I can make it through that, then get into the front door it's like opening the gates of Eden and everything is wonderful? LMAO...come on, to each their own, I saw alllllllllllllllllllllll I needed to see and didn't even get past the parking lot. FWIW, the cops aren't bothering to go undercover on urban night, lol, there were 5 cop cars just lined up across the street idling and watching.

Its definitely not a race thing.  I guess I know a lot of people because a lot of the crowd actually also went to Boomtown's Spoken word events.  All this talk is just alarmist pish posh.  Very fun and lovely people.

I wonder if the 7+ people who've been shot or stabbed there since 2007 would agree with you?

QuoteAfter seven firearms incidents in 2007 and 2008 combined, Staci Evans, owner of In Cahoots night club at 711 Edison Ave., decided to do something.

Evans said she didn't want the bar to get a bad reputation, especially after a 21-year-old was shot by police outside the bar last year.

If someone wants to wager enough money, I'll happily pay the copying fees for the incident reports, and we can see which night of the week all of these occurred on. But I think we already know.

So again, THIS PLACE is worried about pre-approving all their singers' set lists to make sure the beat isn't too slow? I guess when you're used to automatic gunfire, poor Whitney Houston just can't keep up...

I agree never the less. It becomes a bit much for me at times and I just leave and go home. But on a calm night you can really have a good time. I can say this because I am black.. we are a very violent and angry race. I have no clue why. Its very rare you in any urban night or black establishment (gay or straight), and theres not going shots or someone getting jumped on. I wish things were different.

HA ROFLMAO

The thread should ended on that because it's so funny I'm dieing here.

To staci's defense, the great thing about doing business in america is that you get to choose who you want to do business with and if you want a fast show then you get to have that.
'As a sinner I am truly conscious of having often offended my Creator and I beg him to forgive me, but as a Queen and Sovereign, I am aware of no fault or offence for which I have to render account to anyone here below.'   Mary, queen of Scots to her jailer, Sir Amyas Paulet; October 1586

Well I've read that, if you have to eat crow, then it's best to eat it while it's young and tender rather than old and tough. So with that acknowledged, Stephen pulled a fast one on me last night and tricked me into going to InCahoots, saying they'd moved urban night to another day of the week. I fell for it and didn't realize until we were already inside, at which point I was overruled 2-to-1 by him and his other friend Chris and ended up staying.

So with that said, the oven timer just went off and my crow is ready. They have indeed cleaned the event up, to the point that it's completely unrecognizable compared to what it used to be. They now have lots of security, including in the parking lot, which was now just a normal parking lot with no mayhem, or any other activity in it for that matter, besides for parking.

Inside, everything was under control and running like a normal bar. The people were friendly, and there was no weirdness, no cops all over. Stephen invented a new drink called the "DeSpain" and, though I'm not entirely sure what's in it, it is rather good. You can ask for it at the bar if you go.

All in all, I'm afraid my personal experience with urban night seems to have been left over from a year or two ago. To those who said it is now completely different, you were indeed correct.
