The Hendricks location is up and running. They had a line out the door at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon.

I was skeptical at first but they do make a pretty good coldcut. I've had them way too often this week, the fact that it's only a hundred feet from my doorstep isn't helping, but it's good to have a place to grab a quick bite in San Marco. There's not many options in terms of fast(ish) food in this area.

This place is okay.  I'd take a deli from North Jersey or NYC over JJ any day.

I agree - this place is OK, nothing to go crazy over. That being said, I'm glad they;'re around.
It makes a good lunch place because:
It's cheap
It's quick.

I'd take a Blue Boys or Publix sub over this:)
Jags season ticket holder.

I love their bread. It's great to have a (quick) alternative to Slubway or Quiznos. They're a decent sub shop. But I still prefer Larry's. My GF (who is from Champagn/Urbana) is crazy over the place and got me hooked on JJ on our various road trips. Local folks prefer local shops I suppose.

San Marco hasn't gotten their act together yet. The one at Tapestry Park has gotten their routine down, so the bread there tastes a bit better. I think given a few weeks the San Marco store will iron out the kinks.

Man, do I agree!!!! My lady friend thinks Jimmy Johns is the best thing to happen to subs since bread was invented... but I still prefer Larrys.  I eat at Larrys at least 5 times a week.  Its not uncommon for me to do Larrys for lunch on Southside and then hit up the 5 points Larrys for dinner the same day, lol.

I stopped in JJ Friday.  Its adequate, and I'll probably be back again maybe in a few months... but Crazy Laurence's Giant Sub Shack has not lost a great customer b/c of JJ's thats for sure.

The JJ employees on the Southside are impatient!  I have eaten at both a couple times, but I still prefer Larry's as well.  JJ's is above Firehouse and Quiznos IMO, but nobody beats Larry's.

i ate there for the first time ever today and will agree to the bread being the best part of the sandwich.  without it, the sandwich would be forgettable.

Stoped by today at the Tapestry Park location.  Had the Italian.  I didn't think it was anything special, though I have to admit that prices were better than I expected.

JMac

I really like the italian sub.  It is by far the most similar sandwich I've had in Jacksonville to the corner deli italian hoagies I ate as a kid in South Jersey.

TheProfessor

They need a Jersey Mike's franchise over there.

i used to go there just to buy their old bread for 50 cents.

Jacksonville: We're not vertically challenged, just horizontally gifted!

Jersey Mike's is pretty fantastic. But to be quite honest, Larry's is the real deal...AND it's local. So, f' quizno's, scumway, and the rest...just sayin iz all...

Went to Jimmy John's in San Marco last night, they're definitely working out some kinks still.  By the time the girl at the counter finished ringing me up (finally), my sandwich was already made.

JJ is great and I love that I can get avacado on a sub there. But I love Firehouse and it's awesome that Jacksonville has produced such a successful franchise- they were featured on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN last week.
