Glorious Announcement!



One of Jacksonville's most unorthodox public figures and politicians announced today that she will be a candidate for Mayor.  Glorious Johnson spoke today at the Supervisor of Elections office, and MetroJacksonville has the text of her speech.

But seriously.... it good canidates are coming out early. A diverse economy should be the main focus....not all the eggs in the housing basket.

The most remarkable thing about Councilwoman Johnson's announcement assembly was the number of Democrats and Republicans, black and white was about even. It's tough to announce that you will represent the whole city to a group of white guys in stiff shirts. Glorious has the most credible message of inclusion and unity of all the candidates so far. Diversity by itself is not a strength without unity of purpose. Glorious Johnson's campaign gives us the best chance at the hoped for future of a unified Jacksonville.

She could win if the city went back to its pre 1968 boarders.  Why did the city consolidate again?

I don't know if I could add more to what Jim said...as I agree with it all. If feel that overall, she delivered the message that this city needs, and I feel she's the one that can deliver more than just a nice speech. There was quite a crowd, a well mixed one at that.

I am very excited about Ms. Johnson's annoucement. I feel her vision is what we need. This is a long history of hate, rascim and just flat out violence. It would be nice if this city could finally come together as one. I feel that she would completely change the landscape of jacksonville. (mentally and physically.) The only piece that I havent heard anything about is her vision for downtown. but Im sure that is soon to come!

For her to win, she has to campaign and win the southside. People downtown know her and on the northside, but I doubt many people on the southside and SJTC know her or what she plans to accomoplish as mayor. Nice lady, but I think she does not have enough headlines to carry the victory.
