Florida Church to Pay Light Bills for Visitors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.â€"With so many families in Jacksonville struggling to make ends meet, The Bridge Church is taking a bold step during Easter to shine a much needed light.

Led by Pastor Charlie Campbell, the church is sending out an incredible messageâ€"come hear the message of hope this Easter and get your light bill paid!

The church has established a Web site, PayMyJEA.com, and is taking registrations of people that desire to come and experience worship on Easter. At the end of the service, the church will select four people that registered and pay their Jacksonville Electric Authority bill for the month of April.

Since the launch of the site on March 19, the church has seen its Web site traffic increase 100 percent as people find out about the campaign. More than 20 confirmed registrations have been received and more are coming every day. The church is now starting to receive requests from businesses to sponsor the effort.

"During such difficult times in our city, we wanted to take the opportunity to give back. We want people to know during this Easter season that the light of God is amazing and free," Campbell says. "We hope that in our small way, we are making a difference in our city and changing the conversation during Easter to focus on people and what God wants to do for them."

Luke Sawyer, church administrator, added: "This outreach is a reflection of what the church is all about, taking care of each other and doing what we can to allow everyone to live a successful life. Pay My JEA will reflect the true heartbeat of the global Church and the ultimate gift to humanity."

People who want a chance to have their bill paid are required to register online at PayMyJEA.com. They must be present at The Bridge Church's worship service on Sunday April 4, 2010 at 10:45 a.m. at 8050 Lone Star Road.

The Bridge is a youthful, diverse congregation looking to meet the needs of Jacksonville, Fla. Centrally located in the old toll administration building at the foot of the Matthews Bridge, the church is led by Charlie and Marissa Campbell. The mission of The Bridge is to reach those far from God with life in Christ.

That church puts it's money where it's mouth is!  Love thy neighbor, help others, spread the word.  Thanks for posting that!
