Another Walmart SuperStore coming to St. Johns?

Anyone heard of a new Walmart proposed for Rt 16? Understand it's coming up against some stiff zoning opposition because of the likely increased traffic, et al. Maybe BSC down in St. Aug can shed some light.

International Golf Parkway, and I95 would be a better fit for a Walmart.

The residents, and the I95 traffic would benefit because of the exits.

Traffic will be no concern due to the better ramps getting on, and off I95 at IGP.

SR 16 is a better location for them.  The traffic count is higher, the visibility is better and the outlet malls already make it a destination.  Walmart has a department that handles this type of stuff.  If they've targeted 16 instead of IGP, they have a very good reason.

Next to Murabella on 16.  From the proverbial "little birdy" I have been told these re zoning meetings are a mere formality.  If you dont want it there, then I have bad news for you.

I was wondering what the buzz was about in that area.  I pass it daily during my work commute.

For Wal-Mart it seems to be a great location, but for the SR 16 corridor..... I would rather keep the woods.  The problem is that Walmart will do nothing more then slash and fill the wetlands, pave it over, and then throw up a cookie cutter gargantuan box at the rear of the lot.

Personally, I'd rather see it more towards the city limits with a layout that addresses the street where the infrastructure already exists.  But we know that will never happen.

good/bad news is the site is already cleared (essentially).  The site has I believe 2 trees on it.  Would be on old sod farm.  The rape of the land has already occured.

Bring it on... I need new Chinese trash cans, fly swatter, paper weight, and Tennis Shoes.

Ahhh, I was mistaken on the location.  I thought this was the plot of land next to a different development between I95 and 4-mile Road.

Well, I still have the same feelings about what they will likely build.

One of my biggest beefs with them is that they seem to spend zero on traffic design - no matter where they open they create a bottleneck.  At least the one on Philips has a dedicated traffic light.  I swear they make the whole experience of shopping there stressful from the moment you drive in.  [shudder].

Hoop, try the Mandarin location on San Jose, omfg is it a clusterf*ck and a half!

Yup...used to live by that one.  I just don't bother patronizing them any of them anymore.  Politics aside, they're just not worth it.

Don't worry, it's right up the street from me and ST. JOHNS COUNTY has already taken care of the bottleneck with a Publix, CVS and Walgreens that have directed entrys from one direction and directed exits in the opposite direction!

reednavy , adding "and a half!" was funny.  You do have your moments, and that was another one.

Yup.................no thought to traffic ingres or egress.........just the almighty dollar taking precedence! If I wanted to buy Chinese, I would go to China! I do not shop at any Wal Mart and that is my choice!
