QuoteThe article pretty much already supports the leading theory of dinosaur mass-extinction.  Nice to know all those archaeologists and paleontologists have labored so long for a good reason.  Wonder what they'll find next?

Now if they could just get a political/religious movement on par with global warming we could put forth a true global scientific effort to defend this planet against something that we know is sure to happen and cause a mass extinction of life.
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

If meteor struck and killed every dinosaurs at once then shouldn't we have boneyard with remains dating at same time?
It should be all on one pile.

Did anyone else check out the "Asteroids: Deadly Impact" video at the bottom of the article?  That is certainly some eye opening information!

It has happened more than once... and will happen again. :)

"All at once" on a geological time scale could be a fairly long time, say decades.  Lots dead from immediate impact, lots more dead from the aftereffects over a longer period of time.  Takes a while for an ecology to collapse and close off formerly viable niches.

The good news is we will likely see it coming... for days and even weeks... unfortunately... we will be unable to do a damn thing about it. :)

^ the moon will get us before global warming does

The moon is actually moving further away from the earth, not towards it so I doubt the moon will get us at all. :P

the moon pulling away is the issue.  The further away it gets, the more the earth's rotation will wobble, the more it wobbles, the f'ed up the climate becomes, eventually killing off life forms and humans.

BT, if you watch the video I referenced in my post above you'll see the experts mention that we likely won't even see it coming.  There are only a few hundred or thousand we know about that have crossing orbits and it was predicted that there are many many more that we haven't found yet.

I know :P I saw the special and did the digging on it, also the neighbor Galaxy is on a collision course with ours which will kill us all too assuming we don't kill eachother before then, I actually would find that more fascinating way to go then anything.
