Hey All,
I'm moving to Jacksonville at the end of March for work and am wondering about the traffic from Riverside to Southside, Tinseltown area.
I am leaning toward living in the Riverside area but am a little worried about traffic over the bridge.
I'm used to it taking 20-25 minutes to get to work now, so hopefully better than that
Thanks

You would be going against traffic most of the way as most traffic comes toward downtown

That trip should still only take fifteen to twenty minutes even at the heavier traffic hours.  Going against the flow of most commuters will really take the stress off.  You will still hit a couple of little bottlenecks at the Southside Blvd end, but nothing major.

Getting on I-95 South at Park also will put you past the usual morning slow down at the I-95/I-10 interchange.

There will be very little traffic coming that direction. If you get onto I-95 from the park street on ramp onto the fuller warren bridge you will  bypass most of the mess that occures from the merger of 95 & I10.

Traffic in the evenings is heavier than in the AM, but nothing too bad- unless there is a accident or rain.

Your only slow down would be at JTB and I-95, where you need to exit to get to the Southside Blvd.

also don't forget about the Overland Bridge replacement on I-95 south! major delays coming with that.

You're looking at about 20-25 minute commute, just like you're used to.  The neighborhood is well worth the commute!

Thanks for all the replies.  I'm impressed so many in few minutes.  Must be slow day at work.   ;)

That construction does give me pause, I'm dealing with some construction where I currently live.

Thanks again!

^Riverside is worth it to me.  Good luck to you!

I started commuting(either for school or work) on that route across the river from 1993 to the present... there has always been some some of construction going on, lol.

Atleast the Fuller Warren is no longer a draw bridge- nothing was more aggravating then the bridge going up at rush hour.

Now you just have to deal with trains if you're not taking 95.

Agreed! I currently live right in the 5-points area. Even when I lived off McDuff it was still worth it. Everyone's suggestion to get on at park is what's up.

There's so much to do in the neighborhood, most parts are friendly and the whole area is extremely bikeable. Half the time I don't even have to start my car to go to the store (unless I'm doing major shopping.) and even getting downtown is a 10 to 15 minute bike ride up the riverfront.

Don't get me and Riverside and others going on the advantages and joys of living in Riverside.  We'll start to sound like Chamber of Commerce types which isn't part of the vibe here at all.  Needless to say it would take a LOT to get us to live anywhere else.
