Since there isnt a Nassau County forum ( I might be the only one here who lives in nassau) and since we are "north" of town, i put this in the northside forum. A group in nassau county has started a group call Nassau county vision 2032. They are holding meetings all over the county to discuss a wide variety of issues including transportation, parts and recreation and well as other things, it may not be of interest to anyone but you can check it out at www.nassaucountyvision.com

Nassau is a great part of the metro area and I would love for you to keep us updated.  I like that the strip Malls seem to be outside of Fernindina's downtown area.  The Heckscher drive route north from the zoo into Ameila island past American beach and Fort Clinch is one of the best in North Florida.

If Jacksonville is ever successful in getting commuter rail, our communities would benefit greatly if the line connected the Downtown Fernandina waterfront, with JIA, Downtown and the rest of Jacksonville.  It would be a great opportunity for Nassua to provide an alternative transportation route than relying on increasing congested AIA.  It would also help strengthen Centre Street's tourism and business base.

I will keep you guys up to date with what I hear, I actually live on the west side of the county in callahan. But I agree 100% that transportation that connected us to the city would be great for all those involved...Im dreaming now I guess, but a train station at the I-95/A1A Intersection with connection service to Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach would be great. My wife drives from Callahan to San Jose Blvd every day to work, the money you would save taking public transportation would be huge, but it would take about 3 transfers and 4 hours of time plus we have to drive to Lem Turner to catch a bus.
