Georgia vs Georgia Tech

Just heard that Georgia and Georgia Tech are looking to play their rivalry game at a neutral site and to start it at the beginning of the year. Would be cool if we could get them to play in Jax. Though that would mean Georgia would come here twice a year, maybe it could make up for the spanking they get from Florida every year. They can at least say they have won in Jax

Doesn't the Georgia Dome make the most sense?

David

Maybe, but it's still pretty close to where tech plays. I'm not sure how Ga would feel about making the trip to Jax twice a year either. It would probably take away from the fla/ga experience.

I'm sure it won't happen, but it would be cool to see here. anyways i believe they are doing this for the annual chikfila kickoff, so it would probably be just a one year thing. I wish the gator bowl could do a yearly college football game. that would be nice

It was in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Do the Florida/Georgia game and the Gator Bowl games not count?

Sorry I meant like the chikfila kickoff, so something for the first week of college football

I could envision them driving a couple of hours North to Charlotte rather than 5+ down here for a neutral site - they are so close, however, that there's no real "central" ground.  It would almost be like shipping out USC & UCLA to San Francisco.

Ga and Ga tech playing home and home games in Jax? Are you for real?

The AJC article said that in 2010, UGA would have the game at their stadium, 2011 would be in the Dome, and 2012 would be at Tech. It is an experiment and No one is giving up home field ticket receipts.

LOL.  Yeah.  Maybe we can get Alabama and Auburn to play in Jacksonville.  The cotton bowl is pretty old, maybe Texas and Oklahoma will play in Jacksonville.  ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of Michigan and Ohio State, after all, why not come to Jax where our stadium holds 20,000 less than either of their own.

The only rivalry game that makes sense, beside GA/FL, would be FL/FL State, but would FL give up a home game to be in Jax? Probably not, so the City would have to pay FSU bookoo bucks to get the game as a home for the Noles.

They did for two years.  FSU vs. Bama, FSU vs. Colorado.  The first one was a huge success.  The second one not so much.

How about we try to get the Florida Classic (FAMU vs. Bethune-Cookman) played here once in a while?  It currently draws 60-70K a year in Orlando.  Of course, that could be the reason it isn't moving anytime soon.

Something to start off the season would be awesome

I'm sorry.  I am having a tough morning.  Are we talking about the same city that might lose its NFL team and national identity because they won't buy tickets to football games?
