At least they won't be razing a historic structure, it'll just be the first new drugstore in Springfield in years.

We can use the Walgreens more so than a bus station. A bus station will only make the area worse for neighborhood. I'd rather see the area used in a more constructive and neighborhood friendly manner. A bus station means more transients hanging out, and that section's already plagued with hookers and drugs.

Maybe they'll construct the bus station in Shand's parking lot so they can consider Walgreens and McDonald's a TOD?

I just don't want to see anything that's going to make our situation any worse than what it already is...yet I do want to see growth...that's for sure.

Oh, don't get me wrong, the BRT plan is definately shortsighted and will negatively impact the communities lining it's borders.  I was only joking about the Walgreens TOD thing.

Oh, I know....I just wanted others to realize that I'm all for progress....as long as it's on the right path.

One minor nit-pick...The land were the bus station or Walgreens is gonna be is not in Springfield; It's between Springfield and Durkeeville.

That general area was once known as the neighborhood of Sugar Hill, but it was erased by hospital expansion and I-95.  I-95 has now grown to become the un-official dividing mark between the Springfield and Durkeeville areas.  Since the Walgreens is on the Springfield side of I-95, its understandable that people will associate it more with Springfield, although it benefits both.

Ah yes, let's only call that area Springfield if there's some sort of crime there.  ;D
