Claude Moulton, president of SPAR Council, released today SPAR's POSITION PAPER.

According to SPAR, the most serious issue Springfield is facing .....rooming houses.

Don't be ridiculous, Stephen. It's SOOO much better for the neighborhood to be full of rubble-strewn vacant lots than it is for people who aren't related to each other to split the rent on an enormous historic house!

It was sent to all of the city officials listed below:

Dear Springfield Neighbors and Friends,

For important information from SPAR President Claude Moulton, please read the attached Springfield Issues Paper regarding the Springfield Historic District.

This ought to earn our neighborhood a little respect.  ???

HELLO????
Ash?????
Demolitions via the Formal Track?????

This letter is so out of touch and does NOT speak for me as a homeowner, concerned activist, paying SPAR member.

Rooming houses were the problem... in 1999!

As an issue do they really compare with commercial blight, demolition of historic structures, titles clouded by ash issues, a preponderance of vacant slabs, crime, etc.??  Long ago SPAR, sold out to the man.  Now they're just getting silly...

Oh wow. SPAR is f*king nuts. They have to go...

As a downtown Jacksonville resident  and business owner, I have deep empathy for the citizens of Springfield and the Spar Council.

We have all made substantial investments of time, money, and sweat in our neighborhoods, under the assumption that the City would protect us through enforcement of the prevailing laws, and support our efforts to improve our respective communities by working with us and considering our suggestions for positive change.

The reality is that the City has failed on all accounts, and has ignored us all.  The Springfield Issues Paper is further proof of a failed Peyton Administration.

Thats crazy. As a Springfield bussiness owner a resident the biggest problems are:

1. Vacant commercial spaces on the Main St. commercial strip

2. Drug addicts infesting the streets at night.

I would say that is obvious to anyone who lives in the hood. And the thing is finding a solution to the first (benevolent landlords, cheaper rents, small bussiness recruitment) will in turn greatly help get rit of the second. Rooming houses and car washes are not a big deal to anyone except the people who write these things, and the Park Veiw Inn is an eyesore whom code enforcement should force whomever owns it to demolish it yesterday.
