Horrible to hear, but in a group of friends and no ID on the shooter yet or really good leads, plus none of them were hit?

24 year old woman just arrested and charged with murder. Neighbor dispute. What sort of dispute needs to be settled with a bullet?? Crazy people.

In "Broad Daylight" is not in line with socially constructed norms, which tend to anticipate and accepts dark and closer to midnight hour.

The neighborhood in question appears to be the 'fringe',a 'buffer' to core "better' habitat if you will.

If ever my own better quality core habitat begins to feel like this (like my once idyllic childhood native North Miami became ??!!) then two things for sure:
Downtown did not and could not revitalize
I am out of here and I will write a book about the experience.

Woman Charged In 19-Year-Old's Slaying
Police: 32-Year-Old Started Shooting At Family In North Riverside

POSTED: Monday, June 21, 2010
UPDATED: 11:42 am EDT June 21, 2010

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office booking photo of Tawana Harvey
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police announced the arrest of a 32-year-old woman in connection with a fatal shooting in North Riverside on Saturday.

Investigators have charged Tawana Harvey with murder and two counts of attempted murder. Police said Harvey shot and killed 19-year-old Sidney Kirksey during a dispute.

Lt. Larry Schmitt said there was an ongoing dispute between the two families. Schmitt said a car drove up to 2600 Ernest Street, and Harvey got out and, according to several witnesses, started shooting at the Kirksey family.

Police said Sidney Kirksey was standing outside of his home at the intersection of Ernest Street and Ralph Street when he was shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

This is a terrible event.  No dispute should ever result in gunfire.  If you look in google street view, this looks like a quiet street of bungalows.  Terrible that it turned into a crime scene.

Most of us have arrived at where we are today by looking into the future and anticipating the consequences of our actions, good or bad.  For some reason or another, there is a large segment of the population that lacks this basic skill.  They are unable to look 5 seconds into the future and instead simply act on impulse.  Unfortunately for the rest of us, you don't always know who these people are until it's too late.  They can't all be like Raven from "Snow Crash" and have it tattooed on their forehead.

I don't agree with you about that particular statement, but I do think if justice were served more quickly and measures such as these implemented more often we might see a major decrease in crime. Personally whether the victim or the survivor of, it would do me no good to watch someone lose their life.  I guess others like though, so to each their own.

Good to see homisides are trending down, but the number needs to be way lower for the size of the city.
