Jacksonville: We're not vertically challenged, just horizontally gifted!

Sad stuff.. what is odd ( to me at least ) is that he was with a group and no one else was hit,( don't get me wrong, I'm glad no one else was hit, and also sorry to hear he was hit ) nor does it appear anyone in the group could identify the people or car that did this attack. Just seems like it was a deliberate attack on him.   Sad.

One thing seems obvious, it wasn't a random shooting, which means there must be a motive. What puzzles me is no description of killer nor vehicle in broad daylight.
"If we bring not the good courage of minds covetous of truth, and truth only, prepared to hear all things, and decide upon all things, according to evidence, we should do more wisely to sit down contented in ignorance, than to bestir ourselves only to reap disappointment."

Timkin

Same here... the story says he was with friends and none of these people could identify the car or a description of the person.  Something is not adding up .

Coolyfett

it never does in street life.....Wont be the first time wont be the last time. And it was probably over something silly.

This is a case of "stop snitching", I'd bet.  Somebody out of that group knows exaclty who did it and why. Everyone that was with him should be dropped in that Iceland volcano.

If the case is as most seem to believe, everyone knew, then what is the problem?

How can it be reversed?

What is "street life"?

What is "stop snitching"?

Should we begin a campaign to incarcerate/eliminate all the "street life" and "stop snitching" participants?

Is this strictly a cultural issue?

We really need to do better than complaining and blaming.

What is the REAL problem?

Springfielder

The stop snitching is for others not to talk to the police and/or tell them what they saw and know. Some don't talk out of fear of retaliation, distrust of law enforcement, and not wanting to get involved. It's a sad, sad means of keeping quiet, when one could otherwise help to solve a case.

Madd dads have been campaigning in crime infested areas, encouraging people to work with the police, and to help rid their neighborhoods of crime. The crime fighters call line is great, you don't have to give your name and you're given a number, should your tip(s) help make an arrest/conviction...but many still see it as snitching.

Reversing it...has to come from within the community, has to be a personal level of wanting to do the right thing and help.

buckethead

I would argue that any change must come from within the family. The community is where the problem exists. The family must reassert it's moral authority.

A community filled with families (and individuals) who oppose reckless violence and a culture of crime will always win the day.

Reverse the equation, and reverse the result.

Dog Walker

Heard a neighborhood rumor that this was in retaliation on the victim for his having beaten up someone's retarded brother and that the shooter was a female family member of the person who had been beaten up.

This is third hand from a doubtfully reliable source so is most probably BS.
When all else fails hug the dog.

As despicable as abusing the handicapped is, a family member is not legally justified to shoot the alleged attacker.

I can see some vigilante justice, depending on the nature of the attack. That said, even "justifiable" (subjective though it would be) homicide must be punished.

Legalize Marijuana,I need something to calm me down after I watch Fox News.

If Jesus was alive today,Republicans would call him gay and Democrats would put him on food stamps.

If it was a Prius it would have been a drive by due to the sudden accelearation pproblems.  Funny since the BP stuff we don't hear much about Toyota.
