Hello all! I have been checking out this site pretty much every day for about 4 months now. I discovered you all when I googled some old pics of J-ville. I was blown away by what Jacksonville "once was" and how it is now. I am big into history, so after exploring all the old stories of what we "once were" I am checking in everday on what sounds like the city getting back to it's glory.

Thanks for having me!

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Welcome aboard!  There is the perception that, between 1565 (the founding of St. Augustine) and 1971 (the opening of Disney World) that Florida was nothing but a mosquito-ridden wasteland.  It is great to have new members like you who want to look deeper into our local narrative.  I hope that you are a regular poster.  This indeed is a great website!

History is good, shows us what can happen.

I was entranced by mr.dare's study of the phone directories over the last century.
telling indeed.
I've loved popping in here to read commentary from time to time but haven't joined in on any discussions previously.
I do recognize the effort put into gathering us all together and so am thankful.
read you all real soon_
