True progress! Way too much open space, timber production. It was "Inevitable" that we made this "Inevitable".
"We" quietly agreed long ago to I-95 service level downgrade under the assumption such projects would unfold.Hey-we have to do something!
I used to pity area residents when they came to me upset about "surprise" development impacts that were actually apparent within closed yet accessable circles. No longer. Not even "River Advocacy" organizations had any savvy.
Forums such as MJ will provide insights- but little in the way of predictive or reactive capability.
We can forget about attacking Central Florida's growth regards "River Advocacy".
Off course, such projects under the full scope of growth management, environmental "mitigation".Trust us,we are your Planners & Consultants and environmentally sensitive state agency.
Bring it on- let's name sections of the highway after key players.

I heard they are opening up land to make room for the world's largest Long John Silver's.

Wow.  This goes nowhere.  All the more reason for me to hunker down in the core and avoid this mess.  How many miles is this from downtown, 30+?

It's a nice road and no one has ever stopped me to ask me for money while I was taking my kids to one of their soccer games.

I (like many) bailed out of central Clay County in favor of the "core" some time ago.Great move! No,of course not perfect but at least what I see...and am 'sold'...is what is delivered.Spending the equivalent of a full eight hour work day per week driving back and forth on a deteriorating system proved unworthy. For that mythic "Clay & St Johns" setting I simply access public lands, beaches or the nearby hunt lease.Idyllic.

Why does that matter...there are 200,000 people living in St. Johns County that need mobility too....plus, this provides a parallel facility to I-95, which should minimize use of the interstate for local trips (interchange hopping).

I think some people tend to forget this site is called METRO Jacksonville, not URBAN Jacksonville.

If built right, and this keeps people off of I95 just to commute around St Johns County, its a good idea.

It will dump them onto either 95 or San Jose either way.
