Hey everybody. In case you haven't heard a new tattoo shop opened up...downtown. (The Baptists really are losing control!!) Kyle Miller officially opened On Point Ink next door to Dive Bar on Bay Street yesterday. Regardless how you feel about tattoos, this is great news since we all want more vibrancy downtown. His shop is really cool and he is doubling it as an art space as well.

Check out what he's doing and welcome him to downtown...

Let's not stereotype too much, now...my best friend's a Baptist and has 10 tattoos  :)

I think you may be surprised by the Baptists.  They have a convention coming up in June that may be a gamechanger for them.  http://www.metrojacksonville.com/forum/index.php/topic,7394.0.html

Ummm.  Thanks but I think I'll pass on the read.  I have a long standing childhood aversion to all things Baptist.

Whooops!  Highjack!  Sorry new tattoo shop announcer guy.  Carry on....

Does he have a website yet?

I'm seriously looking at getting my first tatt for my anniversary later this year and want to see his style.

And tattoo shops are usually open late so this will add more energy to the night scene.  I think it's a great fit.

Stephen - I don't have Kyle's bio, but I've seen his work; he's the real deal. When I went in yesterday, he was tattooing the drummer from Red Jumpsuit, and I'm pretty eager to sit with him as well.

Website - I don't think so yet. I'm sure he's on the usual social media, tho.

Cliff's - go check out his portfolio and meet him. Kyle is super laid back and very approachable. He'll walk you through the process. I always tell people the way to get a tattoo you'll love forever takes at least 3 meetings.
First meeting: Bring all of your ideas, artwork that you've found, things that you like to the artist. You'll typically put down a small deposit and agree to a date when you can come back and see what the artist has come up with.
Second meeting: Check out the artist's rendering and make changes.
Third meeting: Get tattooed.

Unless you're doing something small, simple or just don't care, never just walk in and get tattooed. While you may like unicorns today, it may not be your fave tattoo tomorrow. LMAO

Thanks.
;D
I've had a drawing for a few years and I know the style I want it done in, but I've yet to see a local portfolio showing something like what I really want.
Not just going in blind on this.

What was the space that was open last night above Ivy's.  Somebody told me that was the tattoo shop, but I guess they were incorrect.

RockStar

Don't know about the space above Ivy except that last weekend it was used to host a wedding reception...

The redjump suit boys get tatted all over this city it seems. Iv seen them in "Lump Daddy Tattoo" off San Jose before. And sat and listened to a jam session there with em before.

How much does the new tattoo guy charge for piercing or does he not have a guy for that yet? I need some work done.
