Trees obstructing roads in jacksonville

I was recently (and more than likely incorrectly) informed that there is some sort of law, statute or city ordinance regarding legal tree heights over roads.  I was told that the city is responsible for keeping trees cut 14 feet above the roads. If this is true, can somebody point me in the direction of where to find this in writing?

Different roads have grandfathered in laws/zoning.

Since I see trees all over town along roadsides, taller that 14 feet, my guess is that someone told you wrong.  Perhaps they mean under power lines?  Even then, the JEA usually "trims" holes in the tree, or takes off one side.  Can't recall that I've seen trees "topped" at 14 feet.

I think he means clearance above the road, not the height of the canopy.

ahhh ... then 14' clearance makes some sense, at least on busier roads.  If enough trucks go down a road, they will "trim" the trees to that height.

Seems like the standard is 14" clearance over the road. Anything less, ie trees over Mandarin Road, must be marked.

Low clearance can be a problem. I once loaded rods into rod holders on the boat. Left and drove down the road. I think one of the rigged rods hooked a tree on the way out. When we got to the ramp the reel was stripped of line.

Now, if only JEA can get rid of vines growing along wires, then dying and dropping down that'd be great. One problem area is right near Hartley and Pine Acres. Every few weeks, a vine will drop down and smack a windshield, which can be dangerous.
