RAP's Annual Meeting will be held this Thursday evening at the Five Points Theater. The proposed board slate for the 2010 Directors of Riverside Avondale Preservation is now available for review on-line (see link under the annual meeting notice). http://www.riversideavondale.org/ The membership votes on the slate at the meeting, so if you're a member, or want to be (you SHOULD), please review the slate so you can make an informed vote. Ten new board members for the 20+ member board, all pretty impressive, if you ask me.

I can personally vouch for Ms. Robson. I've seen what she does for RAP and have volunteered with her (and worked FOR her before she retired), and I know she's someone you want in your corner if a fight breaks out.

so the predominant and most successfull Historic & Preservation organization in the city also has slate voting for it's board....

Makes sense!

There are several levels of membership but an undiscounted single membership is $35.

You need to go read both the RAP and the SPAR Council by-laws and then come back and say which organization actually knows how to follow it's by-laws … I’ll give you a hint, it isn't the one in Springfield.

In addition, slate voting is not necessarily what is going to happen here as the by-laws say each candidate gets voted on so this "slate" could just be the description used by someone for the ballot. Though the by-laws also say that if there are ten positions open and only ten candidates, then it can be voted on by hand vote.  But, again, it is all according to the by-laws. Unlike that other, less successful organization.

Since a MetroJacksonville founder is on the slate of new board members, i'm sure he could describe the evening....
