Give it a rest, please, Stephen. There are plenty of other anti-SPAR threads you can take it to.  This is supposed to be good news only.  Please take your freedom of speech to one of those other threads.  :-)

I hope to see ya'll at the neighborhood clean up planned for next weekend, the SWC Chili Cook-Off (tickets available at Three Layers and one lucky non-profit will win a chunk of change to continue good works in the neighborhood!), and the Springfield Main St. Parade- don't forget First Friday this coming Friday, Miami Vice- which I guess means no socks and lots of pastels....

Uptowngirl, this First Friday is Mardi Gras themed, March is Miami Vice. I expect you to be decked out and representin!

I am seeing a huge influx of young, urban professionals wanting to relocate to Springfield. I find their excitement and energy to be a huge positive for the neighborhood. As I was typing this I got a call from some guys I've been working with who want to bring some interested friends to see the model home today. It's a snowball effect and it's gaining momentum.

I agree with Stephendare in asking what changes?  I don't live in Springfield but my daughter and I both have looked more then once at opportunities to own an urban home. Those of us on the outside hear this rapid fire, self consuming, bickering going on, and frankly I don't read it, but it gives me a pretty skewed idea of what Springfield is all about.

Who do we talk to to influence the Hogans Creek Plan... I'm the nut that canoed it, and from the photos of sail boats in the park, it was once much more then it is today...IE:open sewer.

I'm VERY serious about the ability of a certain groups of clubs to build a miniature railroad - 1.5" scale and perhaps 1" scale, plus a landing and small steam launch sailing area on the creek or a pond.

Ock, I see what your saying, BUT, the same 15 people going back & forth on here does not make what Springfield is all about. It's about the 2,3,4 thousand people living in the neighborhood daily, making good things happen(and some not so good). That is the neighborhood, not this forum.

Back to the good news front, there's also a car wash that will soon be opening at 4th & Main.  Its great to see new businesses continue to open up along the commercial corridor.  Hopefully, this will start a trend with the street's reconstruction now being complete.

"...what changes?"

- One example: a functional, attractive, and helpful website instead of the woefully out-of-date one in use now. This is the face of the orgnaization is so many ways, and the front door to the neighborhood to so many people researching the area. Major improvents are needed and coming, thankfully.

- another would be 5 fresh faces to the Board. I can speak for 4 out of 5 of them in saying that anyone who thinks that they'll simply be mouth pieces or will be afriad to express their opinion is crazy. That the 4 out of 5 are relatively young doesn't hurt either.

think i mentioned something besides the website, didn't i?

The word 'new' kinda denotes a change does it not?
