QuoteReport: Burger King to sell beer, Whoppers in South Beach

MIAMI - Burger King will unveil plans Friday to open a new Whopper Bar in South Beach that will sell beer and burgers, USA Today reports.

The bar is scheduled to open in mid-February.

The plans don't include selling beer at conventional Burger Kings.

More Whopper Bars could be coming to New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, says Chuck Fallon, president of Miami-based Burger King North America.

A beer at the new Whopper Bar -- served in special aluminum bottles to keep them extra cold -- is expected to cost $4.25.

A Whopper combo with a beer will cost $7.99 -- about $2 more than the same meal with a fountain drink.

The restaurant will initially sell Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors beers.

Burger Kings in Germany and Whopper Bars in Singapore and Venezuela sell beer. But this will be the first BK brand in the United States to sell beer.

What a major move in fast food.  I think it is a cool idea and right for the times.  It ought to greatly improve sales.

Bostech

Wasn't first location on University and Philips?

It would be amazing to have same Mcdonalds and Burger Kings and Dairy Queens like in Europe.
Its like two different restaurants.
I thought Dairy Queen was classy place in Europe until I came to US.In Europe they have high tech resturants while in US speaker system barely works.

Ingridients in Europe and US taste different.
Meat for example tastes different in both continents, since you are use to american side european taste different and unusual.
I had same problems when I moved to US,everything tastes sweeter.
Biggest difference is in milk products, from chocolate to mayo.
And unusual menu like serving beer is also nice to have.

But what I am talking about is design, service and high tech stores.
Dairy Queen had restaurant that was high-tech back in early 90's,not to mention cool urban design.

Funny thing also,Bosnia is only country in Europe that doesnt have BK or Mcdonalds.
Local food is too much of competition against them.
Cevapi vs BigMac...tough fight.

Well good luck in African, Asian, and especially SA countries where everything is 2x as sweet as here or more, heh.

Also, mayo is not a dairy product, and I agree, beer in fast food for fast food prices would be AWESOME!  Even places like Denny's in Canada sell beer.
