For those of us that remember the 1989 snowstorm...

I lived in Camden County at the time and remember it well.

Dog Walker

I can remember that the wives of plumbers and car body shops all had new cars, jewelery, and re-modeled kitchens shortly afterward.  It wasn't just the snow, it was the freezing rain that came just before the snow did.
When all else fails hug the dog.

....was at a southside area Christmas party-the first thing was the bridges closed down to the west siders,so the Christmas party turned in to a slumber party.
Next day;doing spin-outs in an Atlantic Blvd. shopping center parking lot. (Speaking of age and youth- I'd do them again !!)
Watched a car slide sideways downhill on the overpass near Cury Thomas Hardware.

I was 9. My parents were out of town and my younger brothers & I were being watched, at home,  by an aunt.

Tried to sled down Myra Street in Riverside with little luck. Too bumpy.

And my aunt freaked out because we were in the middle of the street.

I've been hearing nonstop bs from Yankees about how the city grinded to a halt with 2-3in of snow. Well, excuse Florida for being Florida. We don't have plows and removal equipment with salt or sand to lay out.

My son was born 6 months prior to the storm. We made a snowman for him. I lived in Avondale. Frank (my brother inlaw) and I took the trucks off our skateboards and went "snowboarding" down the Park st. overpass at Blanding whilst fueled by alcohol.

I am thankful for a life filled with such pleasures.
