The Compound

I also heard Deco Bistro is going to be fine dining? I hope thats not right, why would anyone open a fine dining restaurant in this economy, especially in 5-points.  There are plenty of places to spend $20+ per plate, but its not on my budget. Does anyone know for sure?

West In Cantina kitchen was reported to have closed yesterday, saw it in the Life section (restaurant section) of the Times Union. They laid off 20 people from the kitchen staff, people who had been there years. Still the bar and serving booze though.

Owner blamed the road closure of the S-curve on their demise, which I find hard to believe because the road was never really closed, only had a detour, and people came to West Inn/Montys for one reason or another, not because the road was "closed". Seems like a cop-out to the economy, more likely.

Well... I'm sure they'll stay afloat with just the package and bar. Although The Casbah is popular...they don't serve liquor, and its typically full of teenagers. West Inn Package is the only place besides Park Place that stays open after 10pm in the neighborhood.

^Was the Casbah affected by the road closures?

Doubt it. i don't believe that the road obstructions (not closures) stopped anybody from going to West Inn. The Casbah, Brick, Biscottis, nor the fox are downsizing. So maybe theres another reason.

How about second rate food, poor service and bad sanitation.  Lots of other choices.

The Casbah is actually in the middle of expanding.  They have leased the retail bay next door and will be doubling their size soon.

Good to hear the Casbah is doing well, I hear that the restaurant that took over the space of Casablanca, is now dead. The investors pulled out of it. Nice to have yet another empty shell in Jacksonville.

Ah the youthful, firm bodies of 18 year old females.

Be advised that 18 year old minds and souls are attached to those.
