AP: Obama to visit Jacksonville next week

President Barack Obama is planning a visit to Jacksonville early next week as part of a two-day swing through Florida, according to the Associated Press.

The trip would be Obama’s first appearance in the region since he campaigned at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Election Day eve last November.

Obama will be in Jacksonville on Monday and Tampa the next day, the AP reported Monday night. It said the White House was providing no further information.

Probably to push an issue of his such as health care.  Maybe an education related appearance.  Also, the military is a possibility.  No electioneering going on yet that I can think of.

How about a surprise milestone birthday party for Corrine Brown?  Or a meeting of the Clay County Republicans?  Or, maybe, with the Roar in the background, he is he going to ask us to buy Jag's tix?

Except when you are stuck behind the motorcade that seems to run over everything and everyone in its way.

Saw where Obama planned to attend a NYC dinner, where the cost was $15,000 per person, hoping to raise 3 million for the Dem party there. That is some expensive rubber chicken.

Believe it or not, there are a number of big Democratic party donors in Jax.

Regardless of your political leanings, it is healthy for our community to have players in both parties.  Not only to balance our community's perspectives and approaches to issues that are rarely cut and dried and to moderate the extremists, but to make sure we always have tentacles to those in power when the privileges of victory are being exercised.  A lot of things are still bi-partisan, thank goodness.
