Where are the artist lofts etc., workspaces located?  Not the pricey highrise living lofts, but the places you can actually paint in--looking to relocate from Boston soon.

There have been various efforts to get such things going downtown in the last few years, but other folks will have to chime in with what is actually available right now.  JAX doesn't have an artist's district, per se, although there's certainly a good concentration of progressive artists and attitudes in the Five Points Area (part of the Riverside Avondale Historic District).  The realtors who seem to be especially active in that area are Watson, Prudential, Atkinson & Knight, or the Fred Miller Group.  I think most of them also have rental lists available.

There are also some innovative work/live spaces in Springfield.  Maybe lakelander can fill you in.  Best of luck.

There is a work/live loft at 6th and Main in Springfield.   I was at the auto repair shop there on Tuesday.  There are four units planned at that parcel.  There was a lot of activity that morning lifting trusses for the second unit.  The Lakelander can provide you with more details than I have knowledge of.  From what I have read the first floor is open and can be zoned commercial, the second floor is living space and the third floor is a terrace with great views of the skyline.

lobsterpot, check your PM.  The unit at 19 West 6th is being constructed as a shell.  The entire site is zoned for live/work and full blown commercial use.  The trusses went in yesterday and the roof, windows, storefront frame and exterior doors will be going in soon.
