For those of you who havn't heard, Red Bull holds yearly soapbox racing events around the country and this weekend our very own local Springfield shop(s) Burro Bags & Zombie Bikes (located on Main St. between 5th & 6th St) are representing Jacksonville in quit possibly the best way they know how. The owners of both shops have been working for several weeks now on their soapbox racer and are headed out Friday night. The race takes place Saturday @ 10am in Atlanta, GA on 10th Street near Piedmont Park. Give them your best wishes. I will try and speak with them late Saturday to hear the results.

Burro Bags looks awesome.  I was daydreaming about a custom bag of my own.  I may have to make a trip down there next weekend.

It looks like they produce a quality and needed product, so I wish them Huge success.

Ya they truly make something unique. Matt and Chris are both good friends of mine. I have had my bag since they first started making them several years ago in their house. They have really gotten creative with them and they are extremely durable. They have some ties with a great fabric source, so you can really pick just about anything for them to make the bag out of.

Im sure they will make an update on their blog soon after the race on Saturday.

If you haven't clicked the links, the theme for the soapbox team is zombies.  The car will be designed to look like a brain and zombies will chase it.... at least that's my understanding.

Their BLOG is updated and their article and short video from the Florida Times can be found on there as well. They didn't win but they did finish (a lot of teams didn't). Pretty cool I think. For all of you that havn't been in Zombie Bikes or Burro Bags, check it out when you get the chance. They have public events from time to time on the weekends with music, beer, food, bike events and giveaways.

Are they doing anything for Artwalk this afternoon?  I'd love to see them today, but they're a bit off the Artwalk path.

They normally have a small table setup with shirts and their small bags in front of the old library or near BG. They tend to chain all their bikes up there or in the alley. I'll be there tonight, rain or shine. I tend to hang out around BG, London Bridge and the ole' library.
