Anyone in this area know of a Neighborhood Watch ever existing here? With the recent slew of people coming and going from the area I think we could use one. Basically I'm talking about the area between Lakeshore Blvd. San Juan Avenue, Cassat Avenue & Blanding Blvd. I grew up in the area and felt safe as a kid, but now and days with the number of young couples and their children I see, none who ever walk out of their house even during the day unless it's to do yardwork, grab the mail or leave in their cars, I feel like we could get back to the way it was 20 years ago. I don't have organizing powers, and I know there's a Lake Shore Area Preservation, so atleast a group of something is organized here. Thanks.

Your concerns about the San Juan area are real...getting sketchy lately. We Riverside residents between I-10 and Park St have organized a new neighborhood watch but have met with some resistance from neighbors that "just want to be left alone".
Since the first meeting on July 13th, I have seen very few faces outdoors and "Watching".
You might say it's too hot? The natives are Cold if it drops below 70 degrees! As you all know we don't have ideal temps and weather here so some sacrifices will have to be made to ensure this group stays alive and effective.
I'm combining bicycle exercise with my daily "Watchdog" rides. C'mon folks.....looks like everyone is on vacation, but the hum of air conditioners give you away.
Deathstar, You will have to find a core group interested in putting in time to start this as well as keeping people interested.  Our group consists of fed-up victims, some have been hit multiple times. This is the motivator. BTW, I'm sure anyone is welcome to attend our next meeting to get an Idea on where to start. There were several Avondale residents at our first meeting.
