Dog Walker

Kirk is one of the good guys in this area.  Maddie is a beautiful dog and his closest companion.  Please be on the lookout!

Our good friend Kirk Chamberlain's dog Maddie was taken during a home break-in at his house on Park Street near Lane Avenue.  Please keep a look out for her, and give Kirk a call if you have any leads.

Thanks!

This is the SWEETEST dog, and featured in a lot of Kirk's gorgeous photos. Whoever took Maddie is a douche bag (pardon my french).

QuoteHeartbroken man searches for dog missing after Jacksonville burglary
Maddie vanished from Lake Shore home Saturday
By Jim Schoettler Story updated at 9:26 PM on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009

QuoteSEEN MADDIE?
Maddie is a 40-pound, 4-year-old white mixed breed. She disappeared between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday following a house burglary on Park Street just east of Lane Avenue. Anyone with information should call Kirk Chamberlain at 904-786-0687.
If ever there was a time Kirk Chamberlain needed his faith restored in humanity, it came this week after his cherished dog, Maddie, vanished in a Jacksonville burglary.

A heartbroken Chamberlain began posting fliers hoping someone would spot the 4-year-old white mixed breed missing from his Lake Shore home. He’s held a nearly sleepless vigil by his cell phone, waiting for a call that would bring an answer.

To his delight, people have come from the woodwork with offers to help. Old girlfriends. Business clients. Mailmen. Simple strangers. Some helped Chamberlain post fliers on street corners and storefronts, while others searched by car. One friend sent an e-mail blast to 200 people he knew.

Though Maddie is still missing, Chamberlain said his suffering has been eased by the well-wishers.

“This has given me a new understanding of how people can reach out to each other and have empathy for each other,” said Chamberlain, 58. “It’s amazing to me how connected we all are because of the emotions we have for pets.”

Chamberlain suspects whoever broke through the front door of his Park Street home in Lake Shore stole the 40-pound dog along with a flat-screen TV. He said Maddie has never left his side since he got her as a pup and he doesn’t believe she would stray far from home even if she got out.

He said a mailman spotted a dog that looked like Maddie at a nearby apartment complex a few hours after the burglary, but Chamberlain couldn’t find her. He also said police told him there was a recent series of other burglaries in the area, though no other pets have been reported missing.

Chamberlain, a free-lance photographer, first got Maddie as a flea-bitten, scrawny rescue pup.

He nursed her to health and the two became inseparable, playing in the backyard, going for drives and running on the beach. She’d snuggle at his feet as he worked on his computer and did cartwheels when she knew they were about to go out.

He said he treated her like a daughter.

“She’s like a little buddy you can count on,” Chamberlain said.

Chamberlain said when he found Maddie gone, he panicked and began crying her name.

“They could have taken everything in the house, burned it down even,” Chamberlain said. “My dog is the most important thing to me. I don’t have any family.”

Chamberlain said he’s been up before dawn preparing fliers and has missed a few meals as he tries to find his baby. He begs anyone who has seen her to help bring her home.

It would be a true reward of faith.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."
