I have no clue who they are, so I just shot at the barrel.
Jacksonville: We're not vertically challenged, just horizontally gifted!

Jim Bailey--don't know him
Dan Davis--current council member, Dist 12
Tommy Hazouri--former mayor of Jax, current school board member
Jerry Holland--former council man
Audrey Moran--current President of The Sulzbacher Center, shelter for homeless

Or someone not named...I would have to go with someone not named at this point.

I do not want a mayor named Glorious Johnson, nuf said. It's bad enough we already have a place called Oral Explosion. I can hear it now, I just saw Glorious Johnson at Oral Explosion! Let the phallic jokes being after that.

Too bad we can't get Delaney back in the driver's seat.

My pick fo the above would be Audrey Moran, but I CERTAINLY could be swayed in the next two years.

Even though I chose Tommy Hazouri, it's only because I know him and am familiar with his policies, however, if an unknown or dark horse came on the ticket that really outlined and addressed the focus, vision, objectives, and goals for Jacksonville's future in a clear and concise way, where everyone understood what he or she really wanted for Jacksonville, I would seriously consider voting for them.

Stephen, How do we go back and vote now that you have added a couple of people?

I live in Virginia, effectively mooting my vote, but from what I have read of both Bishop and Johnson they both seem to have a good understanding of the issues that are frequently discussed at this site.  E.g., Johnson impressed me with her understanding of commuter rail's value, Bishop with his understanding of why the courthouse design is not ideal for an urban environment.

Am I correct in remembering that Bishop is a Republican and Johnson a recent convert to the Democratic Party?  Maybe they will each win their primaries for the ultimate win-win general election.

Would Matt Carlucci ever run again?  I assume Nat Glover would not given his post at UNF.

Uugggh!  I don't really like any of these choices or those of others that have been suggested frequently on MJ threads.  Most of these people are stale having been a part of the festering backward thinking or poor visioning and decision making that got us to where we are (or, are NOT!) today.

It would be great if a fresh, visionary, imaginative, un-bought and sold, experienced and clear headed manager-thinker would ride up on a white horse and whisk the electorate away!  Someone who can build a populist campaign and get elected without depending on support of the fire and police, NAACP, Jaguars, builders and real estate developers, city contractors, high rollers, religious groups, fellow politicos, etc. that constitute those special interests webs that tend to pull back those we elect from the precipice of doing what is best for ALL the community, not just part of it.

The only person listed I would even remotely support here is Matt Carlucci.  He really knows Jax and would think outside the box while watching out for the taxpayers.

How about another college president?  Steve Wallace at, now, Florida State College.  Well connected to all parts of the community, bright, a great manager, good people skills, and a visionary thinker!

I've heard the name "Fant" from the local Guaranty Bank tossed around.  Anybody know anything about his interest?

stjr

I assume you are talking about the son.  Haven't seen his name bandied about in my circles, but I have read and heard his bank, like some other local community banks, is not exactly a "rock of Gibraltar" at the moment.  His management of it could get some undesirable scrutiny from an opponent if he ran.  As an aside, I think most bankers are too genial to survive the mud thrown in politics.

I will not vote at this time.  I do not know enough about any of them.  I do not know their platforms or even party affiliations.  Glorious Johnson just switched from Dem to rep recently.  I cannot endorse anyone until I know more.
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."
