Why does The Fox drop off in the 90's?  Did it change hands through the years?

Avondale had the Yum Yum Tree in the early 80's.  Also Utsey's Shoes for Children in the 60's.  I believe one of those stores there now still  has the little merry-go-round that was in Utsey's.

Kaldis- corner of Woodmere and St Johns where Liz and Richard Grenamyer cooked and met.
Sterlings Flamingo Cafe - Liz and Richard Grenamyer
Grenamyers - Where Genes seafood replaced and Esperto Steak is now located. Grenamyers had a great jazz program. Noel Freidline got his start here as the busboy/ Piano player. Frank Gallo was the manager. Scared the blue hairs in the hood because it was a gay men hangout (oh my!)
Closed Grenamyers and then Frank went to Sterlings to be the floor manager and waiter.
The Davis family bought The Village Nursery With Michael Hailey as the Florist. (top of the game in his field at the time) and also bought Sterlings. Richard moved to Tallahassee and Liz continue into the catering field. The Flamingo in the name was dropped. Frank eventually bought Sterlings and where he is to this day. Its in the works for Richard Grenamyer to return to Sterlings and lease it from Frank and change it into a top notch seafood influenced restaurant. Hopefully by the fall.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Grenameyer's, on King street, is NOT in AVONDALE. Maybe Swisher's plant is really in Ortega.....??

mtrain,

grenameyers used to have a restaurant in Avondale years ago, before Liz opened her catering business.

On another note, I remember Edward's of San Marco had a store in Avondale for a while. Does anyone know if the oriental rug store is still there? It used to be down by White's book store I believe.

Any idea what it was? Where was it located? It would be nice to know, so I could relay it to Dr. Wood.
