QuoteNew name for home of Dolphins and UM: LandShark Stadium?

The ink might not be dry on the deal, but a source says Dolphin Stadium could soon be renamed LandShark Stadium.

That’s LandShark as in LandShark Lager. It’s likely a short-term branding opportunity, perhaps for one season, but the arrangement would fit with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross’ plan to make the venue an entertaining tropical South Florida experience. LandShark is served at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurants.

Buffett has been chatting with Ross about a business opportunity. But he wasn’t revealing anything about a business deal when I asked him about it at Monday’s Heat-Atlanta Hawks playoff game.

“You’re going to find out real soon,” Buffett said with a smile. “Real soon. It’s going to be great.”

A press conference to announce the deal could be held next week.

This is one of the few beers I haven't tried.  Looking at that photo is making me VERY thirsty.

Think domestic Corona.

Perfect description! I like em'. I guess everyone has their different taste for beer; Like I don't do stouts like Guinness. IMO Heineken are overrated and nasty, but hey, that's just me. I like smooth tasting beers.

How many times has that stadium been renamed? Joe Robbie, Pro Player, Dolphin, and now Land Shark; I think that's all of em'.

Oh, so it tastes like shyt too?

Well...I dont think it's bad. It's just not good. But I like the "Jacksonville, FL" on the packaging. Always makes me want to buy it...then I remember it tastes like water and is overpriced.

It wouldn't make much sense IMO to have a name like LandShark Stadium, yet your team is a type of cat. A dolphin at least has a fin looking like a shark's, but still, stupid name.

It could be argued the name would make more sense here: Dolphins and Sharks are (at least in folklore) enemies, with tales of dolphins driving sharks away from stranded swimmers.  The name is "Land Shark" not a whole lot of connection with aquatic mammals.  Jaguars, as predators, could be "land sharks" (OK, except for the jaguars are solitary hunters and sharks are pack hunters (mostly) thing).

And, it would be better than "Clean Shower Stadium" - another local company whose bid was rejected in favor of Alltel.

Oh dear god.

CSX can't be on there, because they're supported by the government, from what I've been told. That really sucks, yet I'd still love to see MPS Group Stadium.

More like the other way around Reednavy. They offered the government a few "rooms" from their house (for a price) but the government didn't want to pay. Works better when they can build airports, ports, and "FREEways" with railroad tax money.
